Chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them two by two.

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the Book of Job 19,21-27 - Job said: 21 “Pity, pity on me, my friends, for the hand of God has wounded me! 22Why do you persecute me like God and never tire of torturing me? 23I would like my words to be written and engraved on an inscription with an iron pointer and lead, stuck in the rock forever! 25I know that my redeemer is alive and that, finally, he will rise on the dust; 26and after they have destroyed my skin, in my flesh, I will see God. 27I will see him myself, my eyes will behold him, and not the eyes of others. My kidneys are consumed within me ”. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 26/27
1. Ó Senhor, ouvi a voz do meu apelo, / atendei por compaixão! / Meu coração fala convosco confiante / e os meus olhos vos procuram.
Não me esqueçais nem me deixeis abandonado, / meu Deus e salvador!

Psalm 26/27
I know that the goodness of the Lord I will see / in the land of the living.
1. O Lord, hear the voice of my call, / answer with compassion! / My heart speaks to you confidently / and my eyes seek you.
2. Lord, it is your face that I seek; / don't hide your face from me! / Do not turn your servant away in your anger, / you are my help! / Do not forget me nor leave me abandoned, / my God and savior!
3. I know that the Lord's goodness I will see / in the land of the living. / Wait on the Lord and have courage, / wait on the Lord!

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 10: 1-12 - At that time, 1st Lord chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them two by two, in front of him, to every city and place where he himself had to go. 2E said to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So I asked the owner of the harvest to send workers to the harvest. 3 Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4 Don't take a purse, a bag, or sandals, and don't greet anyone on the way! 5 In whatever house you enter, say first: ‘Peace be in this house!’ 6If a friend of peace lives there, your peace will rest upon him; if not, it will come back to you. 7I stayed in that same house, ate and drank whatever they had, because the worker deserves his wages. Do not pass from house to house. 8When you enter a city and are welcomed, eat what is served to you, 9 heal the sick who are in it and say to the people: 'The Kingdom of God is near to you'. 10But when you enter a city and you are not well received, go out into the streets, say: 11 'Even the dust of your city, which has clung to our feet, we shake against you. However, know that the Kingdom of God is at hand! ’12I tell you, that day, Sodom will be treated less rigorously than this city”. - Word of salvation.

To think about
Jesus sends his disciples "like sheep among wolves". The prospect of rejection is frightening. However, it is possible to glimpse a movement full of hope: to evangelize is to transform a society of wolves into a society of brothers. Indeed, the disciples carry meekness, poverty, the spirit of peace. No demands, “eating and drinking whatever they have”. They heal the sick and announce the Kingdom of God. They receive a just retribution for their work, and stomp their feet as a gesture of judgment against the enemies of the Kingdom. Naturally, this beneficial transformation clashes with the selfishness of many. Faced with the somewhat bleak outlook for the mission, the disciples need not back down in fear. They go in the name of Jesus: "The Lord ... sent them before you".

To Pray
