🇧🇷Ótimo dia 30 Out - Liturgia Diária ::: 🇺🇸Great day - Oct 30 - Daily Liturgy

Does the Law allow healing on the Sabbath day or not?

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Beginning of St. Paul's letter to the Philippians 1,1-11 - 1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with their bishops and deacons: 2 thanks and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks to my God every time I remember you. 4Always, in all my prayers, I pray for you with joy, 5 because of your communion with us in spreading the Gospel, from the first day until now. 6I am sure that the one who started a good work in you will bring it to perfection until the day of Christ Jesus. 7 It is right for me to think this way about you all, for I hold you all in my heart, because, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel, you share in the grace that has been given to me. 8God is a witness that I miss you all, with the tenderness of Christ Jesus. 9And this I ask God: that your love may grow ever more, in all knowledge and experience, 10 so that you will discern what is best. And so you will be pure and without blemish for the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes to us through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 110/111
Grandiosas são as obras do Senhor!

Psalm 110/111
Great are the works of the Lord!
1. I thank God with all my heart / along with all his righteous people gathered together! / How great are the Lord's works, / they deserve all the love and admiration!
2. What beauty and splendor are your deeds! / Your justice remains forever! / The good and merciful Lord left us / a reminder of his great wonders.
3. He gives food to those who fear him / and will never forget his Alliance. / To his people he manifests his power, / giving him the inheritance of the nations.

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 14,1-6 - 1 It happened that, on a Saturday, Jesus went to eat at the home of one of the chiefs of the Pharisees. And they watched him. Before Jesus, there was a dropsy. 3 Taking the floor, Jesus spoke to the teachers of the Law and to the Pharisees: "Does the Law allow healing on the Sabbath day or not?" 4But they were silent. Then Jesus took the man by the hand, healed him and sent him away. 5Then I said to them, "If any of you have a son or an ox that fell into a well, don't you take him out right away, even on a Saturday?" 6And they were unable to answer that. - Word of salvation. The people manifest their power, / giving him the inheritance of the nations.

To think about
Consistent with his mission, Jesus will once again cause some disturbance. This time at the home of a chief of the Pharisees. Attached to the letter of the law, they placed Sabbath keeping above any other commandment. They could not understand that healing a human being is a way to glorify the God of life! Determined to keep their position fixed, they remained silent and confused at the Master's question: "Is it allowed to heal on Saturday or not?" Dropsy, or the accumulation of liquid, is a figure of the people, "swollen by the teaching of the Pharisees, also swollen by the pretentious and hypocritical pride of being perfect" (Ivo Storniolo). Jesus, with the implantation of the Kingdom of God, shows that his mission is to give back to the human being the dignity that is due to him.
