Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 5,1-7 – 1Vou cantar para o meu amado o cântico da vinha de um amigo meu: um amigo meu possuía uma vinha em fértil encosta. 2Cercou-a, limpou-a de pedras, plantou videiras escolhidas, edificou uma torre no meio e construiu um lagar; esperava que ela produzisse uvas boas, mas produziu uvas selvagens. 3Agora, habitantes de Jerusalém e cidadãos de Judá, julgai a minha situação e a de minha vinha. 4O que poderia eu ter feito a mais por minha vinha e não fiz? Eu contava com uvas de verdade, mas por que produziu ela uvas selvagens? 5Pois agora vou mostrar-vos o que farei com minha vinha: vou desmanchar a cerca, e ela será devastada; vou derrubar o muro, e ela será pisoteada. 6Vou deixá-la inculta e selvagem: ela não será podada nem lavrada, espinhos e sarças tomarão conta dela; não deixarei as nuvens derramar a chuva sobre ela. 7Pois bem, a vinha do Senhor dos exércitos é a casa de Israel, e o povo de Judá, sua dileta plantação; eu esperava deles frutos de justiça – e eis injustiça; esperava obras de bondade – e eis iniquidade. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading the book of the prophet Isaiah 5,1-7 - 1I will sing for my beloved the song of a friend's vineyard: a friend of mine had a vineyard on a fertile hillside. 2 He surrounded it, cleared it of stones, planted chosen vines, built a tower in the middle, and built a winepress; he expected it to produce good grapes, but it produced wild grapes. 3Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and citizens of Judah, judge my situation and that of my vineyard. 4What could I have done more for my vineyard and not done? I had real grapes, but why did it produce wild grapes? 5For now I will show you what I will do with my vineyard: I will dismantle the fence, and it will be devastated; I will tear down the wall, and it will be trampled. 6I will leave it uncultured and wild: it will not be pruned or plowed, thorns and briars will take care of it; I will not let the clouds pour rain on her. 7Well, the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah, his beloved plantation; I expected from them fruits of justice - and behold injustice; he expected works of kindness - and iniquity. - Word of the Lord.

The Lord's vineyard is the house of Israel.
1. Plucked this vine from Egypt / and drove out the nations to plant it; / until the sea its branches have spread, / until the river its sprouts have spread.
2. Why did you destroy its fence, / so that all passers-by harvest it, / the wild boar of the virgin forest devastates it / and the animals of the open land graze on it?
3. Turn to us, God of the universe! † Look from the high heavens and observe. / Visit your vineyard and protect it! / It was your right hand that planted it; / protect it, and the sprout you have made!
4. And we will never leave you again, Lord God! / Give us life, and we will praise your name! / Convert us, O Lord God of the universe, † and enlighten your face over us! / If you come back to us, we will be saved!

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 21,33-43 – Naquele tempo, Jesus disse aos sumos sacerdotes e aos anciãos do povo: 33“Escutai esta outra parábola: certo proprietário plantou uma vinha, pôs uma cerca em volta, fez nela um lagar para esmagar as uvas e construiu uma torre de guarda. Depois, arrendou-a a vinhateiros e viajou para o estrangeiro. 34Quando chegou o tempo da colheita, o proprietário mandou seus empregados aos vinhateiros para receber seus frutos. 35Os vinhateiros, porém, agarraram os empregados, espancaram a um, mataram a outro e ao terceiro apedrejaram. 36O proprietário mandou de novo outros empregados, em maior número do que os primeiros. Mas eles os trataram da mesma forma. 37Finalmente, o proprietário enviou-lhes o seu filho, pensando: ‘Ao meu filho eles vão respeitar’. 38Os vinhateiros, porém, ao verem o filho, disseram entre si: ‘Este é o herdeiro. Vinde, vamos matá-lo e tomar posse da sua herança!’ 39Então agarraram o filho, jogaram-no para fora da vinha e o mataram. 40Pois bem, quando o dono da vinha voltar, o que fará com esses vinhateiros?” 41Os sumos sacerdotes e os anciãos do povo responderam: “Com certeza mandará matar de modo violento esses perversos e arrendará a vinha a outros vinhateiros, que lhe entregarão os frutos no tempo certo”. 42Então Jesus lhes disse: “Vós nunca lestes nas Escrituras: ‘A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram tornou-se a pedra angular; isso foi feito pelo Senhor e é maravilhoso aos nossos olhos’? 43Por isso eu vos digo, o Reino de Deus vos será tirado e será entregue a um povo que produzirá frutos”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 21,33-43 - At that time, Jesus said to the high priests and the elders of the people: 33 “Listen to this other parable: a certain owner planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, made it a mill to crush the grapes and built a guard tower. Then he rented it to winemakers and traveled abroad. 34When harvest time came, the owner sent his employees to the winemakers to receive their fruit. 35The winemakers, however, grabbed the servants, beat one, killed the other, and stoned the third. 36The owner again sent more employees, more than the first. But they treated them the same. 37Finally, the owner sent his son to them, thinking: 'They will respect my son'. 38The winemakers, however, seeing the son, said among themselves: 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take possession of his inheritance! ’39Then they grabbed his son, threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 40Well, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do with those vineyard workers? ” 41The high priests and the elders of the people replied: "Surely he will have these wicked people killed in a violent way and will rent the vineyard to other vineyards, who will deliver the fruits to him at the right time." 42Then Jesus said to them: “You have never read in the Scriptures:‘ The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was done by the Lord and is it wonderful in our eyes ’? 43 That is why I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people who will bear fruit ”. - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
Com suas parábolas, Jesus nos surpreende com muita frequência, como no caso da parábola de hoje. Ela critica as autoridades de Jerusalém, que aproveitam de seu poder e influência para se apropriarem da vinha do legítimo dono. Nessa parábola está sintetizada a história dos profetas, de Jesus e dos apóstolos, via de regra rejeitados e condenados. Deixando de lado o aspecto histórico e literal, a parábola questiona também a nós, a quem foi confiado o Reino de Deus, que temos o compromisso de produzir e entregar os frutos ao dono (Deus). Jesus não acusa a vinha (o povo) por não produzir frutos, mas seus responsáveis. Fazer parte do povo de Deus (a vinha do Senhor) não constitui privilégio, mas compromisso de produzir frutos de justiça, fraternidade, solidariedade. Deus cuida com amor e carinho do seu povo e espera dos responsáveis a mesma atitude.
To think about
With his parables, Jesus surprises us very often, as in the case of today's parable. She criticizes the Jerusalem authorities, who take advantage of their power and influence to appropriate the rightful owner's vineyard. In this parable the story of the prophets, Jesus and the apostles is summarized, as a rule rejected and condemned. Leaving aside the historical and literal aspect, the parable also asks us, to whom the Kingdom of God has been entrusted, that we are committed to producing and delivering the fruits to the owner (God). Jesus does not accuse the vineyard (the people) for not producing fruit, but those responsible. Being part of God's people (the Lord's vineyard) is not a privilege, but a commitment to produce fruits of justice, fraternity, solidarity. God takes care of his people with love and affection and expects the same attitude from those responsible.
