Se não vos converterdes...
If you don't convert ...

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the letter from St. Paul to Ephesians 4,7-16 - Brothers, 7 each of us received grace as Christ gave it to us. 8Hence this word: "Having risen to the heights, he captured prisoners and distributed gifts to men." 9 “He went up”! What does that mean, except that he also went down to the depths of the earth? 10The one who went down is the same who went up higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the universe. 11And he was the one who instituted some as apostles, others as prophets, still others as evangelists, others, finally, as pastors and teachers. 12He thus trained the saints for ministry, to build the body of Christ, 13 until we all come together to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to the state of the perfect man and to the stature of Christ in his fullness. 14Thus, we will no longer be children with the waves, dragged by every wind of doctrine, deceived by men and induced by their cunning to error. 15 Motivated by love, we want to stick to the truth and grow in everything until we reach the one who is the head, Christ. 16Thanks to him, the body, coordinated and well united, by means of all the joints that serve him, performs its growth, according to an activity tailored to each member, for its edification in love. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho
Corta-a! Vou cavar em volta dela e colocar adubo. 9Pode ser que venha a dar fruto. Se não der, então tu a cortarás!'” – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 13,1-9 - 1 At that time, some people came bringing news to Jesus about the Galileans that Pilate had killed, mixing his blood with that of the sacrifices they offered. 2Jesus answered them, “Do you think these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered such a thing? 3I tell you not. But if you do not convert, you will all die in the same way. 4And those eighteen who died when the tower of Siloam fell on them? Do you think they were more guilty than all the other residents of Jerusalem? 5I tell you not. But, if you don't convert, you will all die in the same way ”. 6And Jesus told this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard. He went to look for figs and didn't find them. 7Then he said to the vintner: 'I have been looking for figs in this fig tree for three years and I find nothing. Cut it out! Why is she making the land unusable? ’8He replied,‘ Lord, leave the fig tree this year. I'm going to dig around it and put compost. 9 It may be that it will bear fruit. If not, then you will cut it off! '”- Word of salvation.

To think about
Two tragedies offer an opportunity for Jesus to call for conversion. They gave Jesus information: Pilate had killed a group of Galileans. Another news is added by Jesus himself: the tower of Siloam had fallen and killed eighteen people. Jesus' conclusion surprises and shocks: "If you don't convert, everyone will die the same way." It is not about hunting sinners or imagining that God punishes evildoers. The phenomena of nature follow their course, their laws. What matters is each one looking at himself and examining how his relationship with God and others is. The parable of the fig tree indicates the level of tolerance of the merciful Father. He always expects the “stray sheep” to return to his flock. Opportunities are given. You can't waste them.
