I will follow you wherever you go.

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the Book of Job 9,1-12,14-16 - 1Job replied to his friends and said: 2 “I know very well that it is so: how could a man be just before God? 3If you wanted to dispute with him, among a thousand reasons there will be no reason to fight him. 4He is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who could face it and be unharmed? 5He moves the mountains without them noticing and brings them down in his wrath. 6He shakes the earth at its bases, and its columns falter. 7He commands the sun not to shine and keeps the stars hidden. 8 Alone unfolds the skies and walks on the waves of the sea. 9He created Ursa and Orion, the Pleiades and the southern constellations. 10Unfathomable wonders, wonders without number. 11If you pass by me, I don't see you, and when you walk away, I don't see you. 12If he catches prey, who dares to stop him? Who can say to him: ‘What are you doing?’ 14Who am I to reply to him and choose my arguments against him? 15If I was right, I could not reply and should ask my judge for mercy. 16If I cried out and he answered me, I don't think he would pay attention to my voice ”. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 87/88
Chegue a minha oração até a vossa presença!

Psalm 87/88
My prayer come to your presence!
1. I cry out to you, O Lord, without ceasing, all day long, / my hands are raised to you in prayer. / For the dead, would you do miracles? / Could the shadows rise and praise you?
2. In the sepulcher will there be those who sing your love to you / and proclaim your truth among the dead? / Will your works be known in the darkness, / your grace, in the kingdom where everything is forgotten?
3. As for me, O Lord, I cry out to you in distress, / my prayer has risen to you from the dawn. / Why do you, O Lord, reject my soul? / And why do you hide your face from me?

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 9,57-62 - At that time, while Jesus and his disciples were walking, someone on the road said to Jesus: "I will follow you wherever you go." 58Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." 59Jesus said to another, "Follow me." The latter replied: "Let me go and bury my father first." 60Jesus replied: “Let the dead bury their dead; but you will announce the Kingdom of God ”. 61 Another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say goodbye to my family members." 62Jesus replied, "Whoever puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God." - Word of salvation.

(Fl 3,13-14).

To think about
Jesus goes on his way to Jerusalem, where he will be crucified. Someone is willing to follow him (v. 57). Jesus warns him: it is necessary to show solidarity, like the “Son of Man”, who chose to be poor among the poor (v. 58). Another receives from Jesus the invitation: "follow me", but puts conditions that would delay your immediate engagement; you need to take care of the family. Jesus teaches him that the proclamation of the Kingdom of God is urgent and is above other, equally important commitments. A third party expresses a desire to follow the Master, but first he has family business to settle. Jesus doesn't agree. To look back is not to live in the present, it is to seek human security. Paul said: "Forgetting what is left behind ... I run towards the goal ..." (Phil 3,13-14).
