Evangelho 

Eu sou a luz do mundo; aquele que me segue / não caminha entre as trevas, mas terá a luz da vida (Jo 8,12). – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 11,19-27 – Naquele tempo, 19muitos judeus tinham vindo à casa de Marta e Maria para as consolar por causa do irmão. 20Quando Marta soube que Jesus tinha chegado, foi ao encontro dele. Maria ficou sentada em casa. 21Então Marta disse a Jesus: “Senhor, se tivesses estado aqui, meu irmão não teria morrido. 22Mas, mesmo assim, eu sei que o que pedires a Deus, ele to concederá”. 23Respondeu-lhe Jesus: “Teu irmão ressuscitará”. 24Disse Marta: “Eu sei que ele ressuscitará na ressurreição, no último dia”. 25Então Jesus disse: “Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida. Quem crê em mim, mesmo que morra, viverá. 26E todo aquele que vive e crê em mim não morrerá jamais. Crês isto?” 27Respondeu ela: “Sim, Senhor, eu creio firmemente que tu és o Messias, o Filho de Deus, que devia vir ao mundo”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel 

I am the light of the world; he who follows me / does not walk among the darkness, but will have the light of life (Jn 8:12). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 11, 19-27 - At that time, 19 many Jews had come to Martha and Mary's house to comfort them because of their brother. 20When Martha heard that Jesus had arrived, she went to meet him. Maria sat at home. 21Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22But even then, I know that whatever you ask God, he will grant it to you ”. 23 Jesus replied, "Your brother will rise again." 24 Marta said, "I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day." 25Then Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live. 26And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? ” 27 She replied, "Yes, Lord, I firmly believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who should come into the world." - Word of salvation.

Reflection 

Os “filhos do Reino” são os discípulos de Jesus e também os cristãos e cristãs desde a origem do cristianismo. Os “filhos do Maligno” não foram semeados por Jesus, mas eles existem. São os que se opõem à presença e ao desenvolvimento do Reino de Deus. São os que praticam a injustiça, de variadas formas. Aos “filhos do Reino” pede-se que vivam intensamente os valores do Reino e o divulguem em todos meios, o bom exemplo dos cristãos e sua constante luta pela justiçaMarta, irmã de Maria e de Lázaro, morava em Betânia, onde o amigo Jesus descansava do trabalho apostólico. Espontânea, dinâmica, hospitaleira e serviçal, são qualidades que se podem atribuir a Marta. Um dia, estando Jesus em sua casa, Marta queixa-se da irmã que, sentada aos pés do Senhor, ouvia-lhe a palavra. Jesus lhe mostra bondosamente a primazia dos valores espirituais (cf. Lc 10,38-42). Na doença de Lázaro, suas irmãs mandam chamar Jesus. Quando ele chega, Lázaro já está morto. Marta então expressa a Jesus sincera profissão de fé: “Eu acredito que tu és o Cristo, o Filho de Deus que devia vir ao mundo”. Esse diálogo entre Jesus e Marta é um dos mais antigos temas batismais preparatórios para a Páscoa.

Reflection 

Martha, sister of Mary and Lazarus, lived in Bethany, where friend Jesus was resting from apostolic work. Spontaneous, dynamic, hospitable and helpful, these are qualities that can be attributed to Marta. One day, while Jesus was at home, Martha complained about her sister, who sat at the feet of the Lord and heard the word. Jesus kindly shows him the primacy of spiritual values (cf. Lk 10: 38-42). In Lazarus' illness, his sisters send for Jesus. When he arrives, Lazarus is already dead. Martha then expressed to Jesus a sincere profession of faith: "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God who should come into the world". This dialogue between Jesus and Martha is one of the oldest preparatory baptismal themes for Easter.
