"Eis o meu servo, que escolhi".

Em Cristo, Deus reconciliou consigo mesmo a humanidade; / e a nós ele entregou essa reconciliação (2Cor 5,19). – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 12,14-21 – Naquele tempo, 14os fariseus saíram e fizeram um plano para matar Jesus. 15Ao saber disso, Jesus retirou-se dali. Grandes multidões o seguiram, e ele curou a todos. 16E ordenou-lhes que não dissessem quem ele era, 17para se cumprir o que foi dito pelo profeta Isaías: 18″Eis o meu servo, que escolhi; o meu amado, no qual coloco a minha afeição; porei sobre ele o meu Espírito, e ele anunciará às nações o direito. 19Ele não discutirá nem gritará, e ninguém ouvirá a sua voz nas praças. 20Não quebrará o caniço rachado nem apagará o pavio que ainda fumega, até que faça triunfar o direito. 21Em seu nome as nações depositarão a sua esperança”. – Palavra da salvação.

In Christ, God reconciled humanity to himself; / and he has given us this reconciliation (2Cor 5,19). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 12,14-21 - At that time, 14 the Pharisees went out and made a plan to kill Jesus. 15 Upon learning of this, Jesus withdrew. Large crowds followed him, and he healed them all. 16And he commanded them not to say who he was, 17 to fulfill what was said by the prophet Isaiah: 18 ″ Here is my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom I place my affection; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will announce the right to the nations. 19He will not argue or shout, and no one will hear his voice in the squares. 20The cracked reed will not be broken or the wick that still smokes will be extinguished until it makes the right triumph. 21In his name the nations will place their hope ”. - Word of salvation.

Reflexão

Jesus se coloca a favor do povo, oferecendo-lhe gratuitamente acolhida, ensinamento e curas. Os fariseus, ao invés, reúnem-se para tramar a morte de Jesus. Citando passagem de Isaías (Is 42,1-4), o evangelista Mateus oferece uma síntese sobre o Messias. Ele é o servo escolhido por Deus, o Filho amado, o ungido pelo Espírito, que traz a luz e o julgamento a todos os povos. Jesus não cessa de proclamar a Boa-Nova do Reino, mas muitos não ouvem a sua pregação.

Reflection

Jesus stands up for the people, offering them free welcome, teaching and healing. The Pharisees, instead, come together to plot Jesus' death. Quoting from Isaiah (Is 42: 1-4), the evangelist Matthew offers a synthesis about the Messiah. He is the servant chosen by God, the beloved Son, the anointed by the Spirit, who brings light and judgment to all peoples. Jesus does not cease to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom, but many do not hear his preaching.
