Acreditaste, Tomé, porque me viste. / Felizes os que creem sem ter visto (Jo 20,29). – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 20,24-29 – 24Tomé, chamado Dídimo, que era um dos doze, não estava com eles quando Jesus veio. 25Os outros discípulos contaram-lhe depois: “Vimos o Senhor!” Mas Tomé disse-lhes: “Se eu não vir a marca dos pregos em suas mãos, se eu não puser o dedo nas marcas dos pregos e não puser a mão no seu lado, não acreditarei”. 26Oito dias depois, encontravam-se os discípulos novamente reunidos em casa, e Tomé estava com eles. Estando fechadas as portas, Jesus entrou, pôs-se no meio deles e disse: “A paz esteja convosco”. 27Depois disse a Tomé: “Põe o teu dedo aqui e olha as minhas mãos. Estende a tua mão e coloca-a no meu lado. E não sejas incrédulo, mas fiel”. 28Tomé respondeu: “Meu Senhor e meu Deus!” 29Jesus lhe disse: “Acreditaste porque me viste? Bem-aventurados os que creram sem terem visto!” – Palavra da salvação.

You believed, Thomas, because you saw me. / Happy are those who believe without having seen (Jn 20,29). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 20,24-29 - 24 Thomas, called Didymus, who was one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25The other disciples then told him: “We have seen the Lord!” But Thomas said to them, "If I don't see the nail mark on your hands, if I don't put my finger on the nail marks and don't put my hand on your side, I won't believe it." 26Eight days later, the disciples were meeting again at home, and Thomas was with them. When the doors were closed, Jesus came in, stood among them and said: "Peace be with you". 27Then he said to Thomas: “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Extend your hand and place it on my side. And don't be incredulous, but be faithful ”. 28Tomé replied, "My Lord and my God!" 29Jesus said to him, “Did you believe because you saw me? Blessed are those who believed without having seen! ” - Word of salvation.

Reflexão

Você é organizado e calculista, daqueles que não compram sem ver ou apalpar o produto. Tomé sim e leva a fama de incrédulo, talvez por sua forte tendência a verificar a realidade. Entretanto, é ele quem, diante da evidência do Cristo ressuscitado, expressa uma das grandes profissões de fé, que continua ecoando até hoje nos lábios dos que creem: “Meu Senhor e meu Deus!”. E abre a ocasião para Jesus esclarecer como se dá o exercício da fé, isto é, deve-se acreditar sem ver: “Felizes os que não viram e acreditaram”.

Reflection

You are organized and calculating, of those who do not buy without seeing or touching the product. Thomas does and is reputed as an unbeliever, perhaps because of his strong tendency to verify reality. However, it is he who, in the face of the evidence of the risen Christ, expresses one of the great professions of faith, which continues to echo today on the lips of those who believe: “My Lord and my God!”. And it opens the opportunity for Jesus to clarify how the exercise of faith takes place, that is, one must believe without seeing: “Happy are those who have not seen and believed”.
