Oxalá ouvísseis hoje a sua voz: / Não fecheis os corações como em Meriba! (Sl 94,8) – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 12,38-42 – Naquele tempo, 38alguns mestres da Lei e fariseus disseram a Jesus: “Mestre, queremos ver um sinal realizado por ti”. 39Jesus respondeu-lhes: “Uma geração má e adúltera busca um sinal, mas nenhum sinal lhe será dado, a não ser o sinal do profeta Jonas. 40Com efeito, assim como Jonas esteve três dias e três noites no ventre da baleia, assim também o Filho do Homem estará três dias e três noites no seio da terra. 41No dia do juízo, os habitantes de Nínive se levantarão contra essa geração e a condenarão, porque se converteram diante da pregação de Jonas. E aqui está quem é maior do que Jonas. 42No dia do juízo, a rainha do Sul se levantará contra essa geração e a condenará, porque veio dos confins da terra para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão, e aqui está quem é maior do que Salomão”. – Palavra da salvação.

Reflexão

Doutores da Lei e fariseus, pedem a Jesus um sinal do céu. Na verdade, querem é desafiá-lo. Preferem manter os velhos esquemas dentre os quais eles se incluem, enquanto sacrificam a maioria da população. Jesus evoca duas célebres figuras do Antigo Testamento: o profeta Jonas e o rei Salomão. Os ouvintes de Jonas, embora sendo pagãos, se converteram com a pregação dele. A rainha de Sabá fez longa viagem para ouvir de Salomão a Palavra de Deus. Ambos em melhores condições diante de Deus do que esta geração “má e adúltera”, que ignora o Cristo, “maior do que Jonas” e “mais sábio do que Salomão”.

Reflection

Doctors of the Law and Pharisees, ask Jesus for a sign from heaven. In fact, they want to challenge you. They prefer to keep the old schemes among which they are included, while sacrificing the majority of the population. Jesus evokes two famous Old Testament figures: the prophet Jonah and King Solomon. Jonah's listeners, while being pagans, were converted by his preaching. The Queen of Sheba took a long journey to hear the Word of God from Solomon. Both better off before God than this “bad and adulterous” generation, which ignores the Christ, “greater than Jonah” and “wiser than Solomon”.

Jesus quero ouvir e acolher Teu anúncio e caminho a conversão. Melhor é a situação dos ninivitas, que se converteram com a pregação de Jonas, e da rainha do sul, que escutou a sabedoria de Salomão. Amém.
