Graças te dou, ó Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, / pois revelaste os mistérios do teu Reino aos pequeninos, / escondendo-os aos doutores! (Mt 11,25) – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 13,10-17 – Naquele tempo, 10os discípulos aproximaram-se e disseram a Jesus: “Por que tu falas ao povo em parábolas?” 11Jesus respondeu: “Porque a vós foi dado o conhecimento dos mistérios do Reino dos céus, mas a eles não é dado. 12Pois à pessoa que tem será dado ainda mais, e terá em abundância; mas à pessoa que não tem será tirado até o pouco que tem. 13É por isso que eu lhes falo em parábolas: porque, olhando, eles não veem e, ouvindo, eles não escutam nem compreendem. 14Deste modo se cumpre neles a profecia de Isaías: ‘Havereis de ouvir, sem nada entender. Havereis de olhar, sem nada ver. 15Porque o coração deste povo se tornou insensível. Eles ouviram com má vontade e fecharam seus olhos para não ver com os olhos, nem ouvir com os ouvidos, nem compreender com o coração, de modo que se convertam e eu os cure’. 16Felizes sois vós, porque vossos olhos veem e vossos ouvidos ouvem. 17Em verdade vos digo, muitos profetas e justos desejaram ver o que vedes e não viram, desejaram ouvir o que ouvis e não ouviram”. – Palavra da salvação.

I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, / for you have revealed the mysteries of your Kingdom to the little ones, / by hiding them from the doctors! (Mt 11,25) - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 13, 10-17 - At that time, 10 disciples approached and said to Jesus: “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” 11Jesus replied, “For you have been given knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but they are not given. 12For the person who has will be given even more, and will have an abundance; but the person who doesn’t have will be taken away from the little he has. Reflection
Jesus conta parábolas para transmitir seus ensinamentos e mais facilmente atingir seus ouvintes. Mesmo assim, as pessoas parecem desligadas, insensíveis, superficiais. Seguem superficialmente e logo desistem. São como o terreno cheio de pedras em que a semente brota, mas não desabrocha nem cresce. Aos discípulos, aos quais “é dado conhecer os mistérios do Reino dos Céus”, Jesus acrescenta explicações, esclarece pontos ainda obscuros para eles. Eles fazem a experiência de conviver com Jesus, chance que os antigos profetas não tiveram.
Reflection
Jesus tells parables to convey his teachings and more easily reach his listeners. Even so, people seem detached, insensitive, superficial. They go superficially and then give up. They are like the ground full of stones in which the seed sprouts, but does not blossom or grow. To the disciples, to whom "it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven", Jesus adds explanations, clarifies still obscure points for them. They experience living with Jesus, a chance that the ancient prophets did not have.
