25/7 🇧🇷Evangelho diário 🇺🇸Daily Gospel

Quem quiser tornar-se grande torne-se vosso servidor.
Whoever wants to become great, become your servant.

Evangelho

Gospel
I have appointed you to go and bear fruit, / and your fruit to remain, so said the Lord (Jn 15:16). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 20,20-28 - At that time, the mother of the children of Zebedee approached Jesus with her children and knelt with the intention of making a request. 21Jesus asked, "What do you want?" She replied: "Tell these two of my children to sit, in your Kingdom, one on your right and one on your left." 22Jesus then answered them, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you by any chance drink the cup I'm going to drink? ” They replied: "We can". 23Then Jesus said to them, “In fact, you will drink from my cup, but it is not up to me to grant the seat on my right or on my left. My Father is the one who will give these places to those for whom he has prepared them ”. 24When the other ten disciples heard this, they were irritated against the two brothers. 25Jesus, however, called them and said: “You know that the leaders of the nations have power over them and the great ones oppress them. It should not be so among you. Whoever wants to become great, become your servant; 27 whoever wants to be the first be your servant. 28For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many ”. - Word of salvation.

Reflection

Reflection
The Kingdom of Heaven has nothing to do with human and worldly claims, where people feel privileged because they are close to this or that; because they took a picture with this one; because she is a friend of that other. The Kingdom of Heaven is not that, it is not having prominence and importance. The Kingdom of Heaven is not about being very tanned, valued, and so on. The Kingdom of Heaven is, above all, to serve. Jesus was saying to the mother of the children of Zebedee: “It is not for me to say who will be on my right or my left. It is up to the Father. And what is the importance of the place they will occupy? Because in the Kingdom, whoever wants to be big is very simple: they don't need to have a name, just serve. In the Kingdom of God, just do what I do because the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve ”. Today, celebrating the apostle St. James, we want to celebrate the essence of what it means to be a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. We often worship, applaud, run after people who have a name and prominence. How beautiful to know that the Kingdom of God is that person who is serving without anyone recognizing it, that person who is taking care of the Church pews, cleaning the Church! How beautiful to see anonymous people, many times, even despised, taking care of their brothers.
