"Quero a misericórdia e não o sacrifício".

"I want mercy, not sacrifice".

Minhas ovelhas escutam minha voz, / eu as conheço e elas me seguem (Jo 10,27). – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 12,1-8 – 1Naquele tempo, Jesus passou no meio de uma plantação num dia de sábado. Seus discípulos tinham fome e começaram a apanhar espigas para comer. 2Vendo isso, os fariseus disseram-lhe: “Olha, os teus discípulos estão fazendo o que não é permitido fazer em dia de sábado!” 3Jesus respondeu-lhes: “Nunca lestes o que fez Davi quando ele e seus companheiros sentiram fome? 4Como entrou na casa de Deus e todos comeram os pães da oferenda, que nem a ele nem aos seus companheiros era permitido comer, mas unicamente aos sacerdotes? 5Ou nunca lestes na Lei que, em dia de sábado, no templo, os sacerdotes violam o sábado sem contrair culpa alguma? 6Ora, eu vos digo, aqui está quem é maior do que o templo. 7Se tivésseis compreendido o que significa: ‘Quero a misericórdia e não o sacrifício’, não teríeis condenado os inocentes. 8De fato, o Filho do Homem é senhor do sábado”. – Palavra da salvação.

My sheep hear my voice, / I know them and they follow me (Jn 10,27). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 12: 1-8 - 1 At that time, Jesus passed in the middle of a plantation on a Sabbath day. His disciples were hungry and started picking ears to eat. 2 Upon seeing this, the Pharisees said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what they are not allowed to do on the Sabbath day!” 3Jesus replied, “Did you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4How did he get into the house of God, and they all ate the loaves of the offering, which neither he nor his companions were allowed to eat, but only the priests? 5Or did you never read in the Law that, on the Sabbath day, in the temple, priests break the Sabbath without incurring any guilt? 6 Now, I tell you, here is who is bigger than the temple. 7If you had understood what it means: 'I want mercy and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the innocent. 8 In fact, the Son of Man is the lord of the Sabbath ”. - Word of salvation.

Reflexão

A lei judaica antiga proibia fazer colheita no sábado, dia de total repouso, sinal da aliança com Deus (cf. Ex 34,21; Dt 23,25). Ora, os discípulos de Jesus estavam pegando algumas espigas para matar a fome. São ações diferentes, mas os fariseus colocavam tudo no mesmo plano e censuravam Jesus. Citando dois episódios da Escritura, Jesus lhes mostra que, por motivos justificáveis, há situações ou atitudes que não ferem a lei sabática. Além disso, os fariseus precisam aprender o que significa “Quero misericórdia, e não sacrifício”. O que Deus espera de cada pessoa não é a mera observância da lei, mas a solidariedade, o socorro necessário e imediato, o salvamento de uma vida.

Reflection

Ancient Jewish law forbade harvesting on Saturday, the day of complete rest, a sign of the covenant with God (cf. Ex 34,21; Deut 23,25). Now, Jesus' disciples were picking up some ears to kill hunger. These are different actions, but the Pharisees put everything on the same plane and blamed Jesus. Quoting two episodes of Scripture, Jesus shows them that, for justifiable reasons, there are situations or attitudes that do not violate the Sabbath law. In addition, the Pharisees need to learn what "I want mercy, not sacrifice" means. What God expects of each person is not mere observance of the law, but solidarity, the necessary and immediate help, the saving of a life.

Jesus, ajude-me a agir sem violar as normas estabelecidas, mas praticando a solidariedade tendo em mente um lembrete Teu pouco praticado: “Quero misericórdia, e não sacrifício”. Amém.
