“Explica-nos a parábola do joio!”

“Explain the parable of the chaff to us!”

Evangelho 

A semente é de Deus a Palavra, / o Cristo é o semeador; / todo aquele que o encontra / vida eterna encontrou. – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 13,36-43 – Naquele tempo, 36Jesus deixou as multidões e foi para casa. Seus discípulos aproximaram-se dele e disseram: “Explica-nos a parábola do joio!” 37Jesus respondeu: “Aquele que semeia a boa semente é o Filho do Homem. 38O campo é o mundo. A boa semente são os que pertencem ao Reino. O joio são os que pertencem ao maligno. 39O inimigo que semeou o joio é o diabo. A colheita é o fim dos tempos. Os ceifadores são os anjos. 40Como o joio é recolhido e queimado ao fogo, assim também acontecerá no fim dos tempos: 41o Filho do Homem enviará os seus anjos e eles retirarão do seu Reino todos os que fazem outros pecar e os que praticam o mal; 42e depois os lançarão na fornalha de fogo. Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes. 43Então os justos brilharão como o sol no Reino de seu Pai. Quem tem ouvidos, ouça”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel 

The seed is from God the Word, / Christ is the sower; / everyone who finds it / eternal life has found it. - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 13: 36-43 - At that time, 36Jesus left the crowds and went home. His disciples approached him and said: “Explain the parable of the chaff to us!” 37Jesus replied: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38The field is the world. The good seeds are those that belong to the Kingdom. The tares are those that belong to the evil one. 39The enemy who sowed the tares is the devil. The harvest is the end of time. The reapers are the angels. 40As the tares are collected and burned with fire, so it will also happen at the end of time: 41The Son of Man will send his angels and they will remove from his Kingdom all those who cause others to sin and those who do evil; 42and afterwards they will cast them into the furnace of fire. There, there will be crying and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let him hear ”. - Word of salvation.

Reflection 

Os “filhos do Reino” são os discípulos de Jesus e também os cristãos e cristãs desde a origem do cristianismo. Os “filhos do Maligno” não foram semeados por Jesus, mas eles existem. São os que se opõem à presença e ao desenvolvimento do Reino de Deus. São os que praticam a injustiça, de variadas formas. Aos “filhos do Reino” pede-se que vivam intensamente os valores do Reino e o divulguem em todos meios, o bom exemplo dos cristãos e sua constante luta pela justiça

Reflection 

The “children of the Kingdom” are Jesus' disciples and also Christians since the beginning of Christianity. The “sons of the Evil One” were not sown by Jesus, but they exist. They are those who oppose the presence and development of the Kingdom of God. They are the ones who practice injustice in various ways. The “children of the Kingdom” are asked to live the Kingdom's values intensely and to disseminate it in every way, the good example of Christians and their constant struggle for justice.
