I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.

1a.Leitura - 1Cor 15,1-8
Primeira Carta de São Paulo aos Coríntios. 1 Irmãos, quero lembrar-vos o evangelho que vos preguei e que recebestes, e no qual estais firmes. 2 Por ele sois salvos, se o estais guardando tal qual ele vos foi pregado por mim. De outro modo, teríeis abraçado a fé em vão. 3 Com efeito, transmiti-vos, em primeiro lugar, aquilo que eu mesmo tinha recebido, a saber: que Cristo morreu por nossos pecados, segundo as Escrituras; 4 que foi sepultado; que, ao terceiro dia, ressuscitou, segundo as Escrituras’; 5 e que apareceu a Cefas e, depois, aos Doze. 6 Mais tarde, apareceu a mais de quinhentos irmãos, de uma vez. Destes, a maioria ainda vive e alguns já morreram. 7 Depois, apareceu a Tiago e, depois, apareceu aos apóstolos todos juntos. 8 Por último, apareceu também a mim, como a um abortivo.

1st Reading - 1Cor 15,1-8
First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians. 1 Brothers, I want to remind you the Gospel which I preached unto you, and that ye have received, and wherein ye are firm. 2 for him you have been saved, if you are saving as it was preached by me. Otherwise, you would have embraced the faith in vain. 3 indeed, passing you in the first place, what I had received, namely: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; 4 that he was buried; that, on the third day, he rose again according to the Scriptures "; 5 and he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 later, appeared more than 500 brothers at once. Of these, the majority still lives and some have already died. 7 Then, appeared to James, then appeared to the Apostles all together. 8 Finally, appeared also to me, as an abortifacient.
 

Evangelho - Jo 14,6-14 

Naquele tempo, Jesus disse a Tomé: 6 “Eu sou o Caminho, a Verdade e a Vida. Ninguém vai ao Pai senão por mim. 7 Se vós me conhecêsseis, conheceríeis também o meu Pai. E desde agora o conheceis e o vistes”. 8 Disse Filipe: “Senhor, mostra-nos o Pai, isso nos basta!” 9 Jesus respondeu: “Há tanto tempo estou convosco, e não me conheces, Filipe? Quem me viu, viu o Pai. Como é que tu dizes: ‘Mostra-nos o Pai’? 10 Não acreditas que eu estou no Pai e o Pai está em mim? As palavras que eu vos digo, não as digo por mim mesmo, mas é o Pai que, permanecendo em mim, realiza as suas obras. 11 Acreditai-me: eu estou no Pai e o Pai está em mim. Acreditai, ao menos, por causa destas mesmas obras. 12 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, quem acredita em mim fará as obras que eu faço, e fará ainda maiores do que estas. Pois eu vou para o Pai, 13 e o que pedirdes em meu nome, eu o realizarei, a fim de que o Pai seja glorificado no Filho. 14 Se pedirdes algo em meu nome, eu o realizarei”.

Gospel - Jo 14,6-14
At that time, Jesus said to Thomas: 6 "I am the way, the truth and the Life. Nobody goes to the Father but by me. 7 If you knew me, conheceríeis my Father. And since now know him and seen ". 8 Philip Said, "Lord, show us the Father, that's enough!" 9 Jesus answered: "I am with you for so long, and you don't know me, Philip? Who saw me, saw his father. How do you say, ' show us the Father '? 10 don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you, do not say for myself, but it is the Father that, remaining in me, realizes his works. 11 believe me: I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Believe me, at least, because of these same works. 12 verily, verily, I say unto you, the one who believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do even greater than these. Because I go to the Father, 13 and whatever you ask in my name, I grant it, so that the Father may be glorified in the son. 14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I grant it. "

 

Refletindo o Evangelho

Quando fazemos as coisas sem refletir, sem meditar e nem esperar, corremos sérios riscos de sermos precipitados. Não é preciso dizer as consequências da precipitação em nossa vida. Estamos nos atropelando, estamos machucando nós e os outros, sobretudo, submetendo o nosso coração à onda da ansiedade. Ansiedade em querer que as coisas sejam feitas logo e as vezes de qualquer maneira e assim por diante. Não podemos ficar postergando, deixar que o tempo resolva as coisas, mas precisamos viver cada coisa a seu tempo. Precisamos também ter a paciência necessária para entendermos a progressão do tempo e das coisas, para não sermos premeditados e agonizados naquilo que fazemos. Queremos ver o Pai? Jesus veio para nos mostrar o Pai, mas como iremos compreendê-Lo? Não é simplesmente Jesus dizer: “O Pai está aqui!”, mas precisamos submeter o nosso coração à sabedoria divina, à pedagogia de Deus. Conheceremos o Pai, não de forma única, porque Ele se manifesta através da criação, das obras que Jesus nos mostra. Enfim, o Pai está entre nós e não O conhecemos, porque queremos uma referência direta d’Ele, e não estamos contemplando a Sua ação presente e viva no meio de nós. O Pai está no meio de nós diante de tantas coisas maravilhosas e em nós, sobretudo, na pessoa de Jesus. “Há tanto tempo estou convosco Filipe, e vós não me conheceis!”. Há quanto tempo Jesus está entre nós, Ele faz parte da nossa vida, mas não O conhecemos. Há quanto tempo as pessoas estão conosco e não as conhecemos! Não prestamos atenção no essencial. Muitas vezes, temos um relacionamento superficial uns com os outros e com Deus também. Por causa da nossa superficialidade, misturada com nosso jeito imediatista de querer ver as coisas, não vamos para o essencial. Queremos conhecer Deus, mergulhar n’Ele? Então na calma, na sobriedade do espírito, mergulhemos em Deus, nas obras e ações de Jesus, para reconhecermos aquilo que o Pai quer nos revelar.

Reflecting the Gospel

When we do things without thinking, without meditating and not wait, we run serious risks of being hasty. Needless to say, the consequences of the precipitation in our life. We're trampling, we are hurting ourselves and the others, especially by submitting our heart to the wave of anxiety. Anxiety about wanting things to be done soon and the times anyway, and so on. We can't keep postponing, let time solve things, but we need to live everything in your time. We also need to have the patience necessary to understand the progression of time and things, we can't be premeditated and agonizados at what we do. We want to see the Father? Jesus came to show us the Father, but how can we understand it? It's not just Jesus saying: "Daddy's here!", but we need to submit our heart to the divine wisdom, the pedagogy of God. We will know the Father, not only because it manifests itself through the creation of the works that Jesus shows us. Anyway, the Father is among us and we don't know him, because we want a direct reference to him, and we're not contemplating action present and alive in our midst. The Father is among us before so many wonderful things and we, especially, in the person of Jesus. "For so long I am with you, and you don't know me!". How long Jesus is among us, He is part of our life, but we don't know him. How long people are with us and we know them not. We don't pay attention on the essential. Many times, we have a superficial relationship with each other and with God as well. Because of our superficiality, mixed with our immediate way of wanting to see things, not going to the essential. We want to meet God, dive in him? Then in the quiet, in the sobriety of spirit, God, let's put in the work and actions of Jesus, to recognize what the Father wants us to reveal.
