Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 9,9-13 – Naquele tempo, 9Jesus viu um homem, chamado Mateus, sentado na coletoria de impostos e disse-lhe: “Segue-me!” Ele se levantou e seguiu a Jesus. 10Enquanto Jesus estava à mesa, em casa de Mateus, vieram muitos cobradores de impostos e pecadores e sentaram-se à mesa com Jesus e seus discípulos. 11Alguns fariseus viram isso e perguntaram aos discípulos: “Por que vosso mestre come com os cobradores de impostos e pecadores?” 12Jesus ouviu a pergunta e respondeu: “Aqueles que têm saúde não precisam de médico, mas sim os doentes. 13Aprendei, pois, o que significa: ‘Quero misericórdia e não sacrifício’. De fato, eu não vim para chamar os justos, mas os pecadores”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 9,9-13 – At that time, 9Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office and said to him, "Follow me!" He got up and followed Jesus. 10While Jesus was at table at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat at table with Jesus and his disciples. 11Some Pharisees saw this and asked the disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" 12Jesus heard the question and answered: “Those who are healthy do not need a doctor, but the sick do. 13Learn therefore what it means: 'I want mercy and not sacrifice.' In fact, I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners”. – Word of salvation.

Jesus, admiramos tua atitude de misturar-te com os pecadores, sem julgá-los nem condená-los. Ao contrário, estabeleces com eles boa convivência, já que “não são os sadios que precisam de médico, e sim os doentes”. Concede a cada um de nós, Senhor, um coração repleto de misericórdia. Amém.

To Pray

Jesus, we admire your attitude of mixing you with sinners, without judging or condemning them. On the contrary, you establish a good relationship with them, since “it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick”. Grant each one of us, Lord, a heart full of mercy. Amen.
