🇧🇷Feliz Oitava de Natal - 31 Dez - Liturgia Diária ::: 🇺🇸Merry Christmas Octave - Dec 31 - Daily Liturgy

No principio era a Palavra.
In the beginning it was the Word.

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the first letter of São João 2,18-21 - 18Filhinhos, this is the last hour. You heard that the antichrist will come. Indeed, many antichrists have already appeared. So we know that the last hour has come. 19They left our midst, but they were not ours, for if they were really ours, they would have stayed with us. But it was necessary to be clear that not all are ours. 20You have already received the anointing of the Holy One, and everyone has knowledge. 21If I wrote to you, it is not because you ignore the truth, but because you know it and because no lie comes from the truth. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 95/96
O céu se rejubile e exulte a terra!

Psalm 95/96
Heaven rejoice and rejoice the earth!
1. Sing to the Lord God a new song, / sing to the Lord God, O whole earth! / Sing and bless your holy name! / Day after day I announced your salvation.
2. The sky rejoices and exult the earth, / applauds the sea with what lives in its waters; / the fields with their fruits rejoice / and exult the forests and forests.
3. In the presence of the Lord, for he comes, / because he comes to judge the whole earth. / He will rule the whole world with justice / and the people will judge with loyalty.

Evangelho

Gospel
Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 1,1-18 - 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God; and the Word was God. 2 In the beginning she was with God. 3Everything was done by her and without her nothing was done of everything that was done. 4 In it was life, and life was the light of men. 5And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not been able to subdue it. 6A man sent by God arose; his name was John. 7He came as a witness, to bear witness to the light, that all might come to faith through him. 8He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light: 9 of him who was the light of truth, who, coming into the world, enlightens every human being. 10 The Word was in the world - and the world was made through it - but the world did not want to know it. 11 He came to his own, and his own did not accept it. But to all who received it, it gave them the ability to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in his name, 13 for they were not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God himself. 14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we contemplate his glory, the glory he receives from the Father as the only begotten Son, full of grace and truth. 15 of him João testifies, crying: "This is the one of whom I said: 'What comes after me has passed before me, because he existed before me'". 16 From his fullness we all received grace for grace. 17For through Moses the Law was given, but grace and truth came to us through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the Only Begotten One of God, who is in the Father's intimacy, he made known to us. - Word of salvation.

To think about
Here Jesus is designated with a special name: Word. Effective, creative word: “the world was made through it”. The Word is God; has existed since the beginning and is manifested as a human person: "the Word became flesh and pitched his tent among us". It doesn't come suddenly. It was announced by John the Baptist. What John preached is that everyone should believe in Jesus, the true light. Many did not believe. Jesus and his disciples experienced strong opposition and persecution. But to those who believed, Jesus "gave the power to become children of God".

To Pray
Lord Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God of God, light of light, true God of true God, begotten and not created: you came down from Heaven and, by the Holy Spirit, you were formed in the Virgin Mary; you were crucified and died to save us. Amen.
