Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 9,1-6 – 1O povo que andava na escuridão viu uma grande luz; para os que habitavam nas sombras da morte, uma luz resplandeceu. 2Fizeste crescer a alegria e aumentaste a felicidade; todos se regozijam em tua presença como alegres ceifeiros na colheita ou como exaltados guerreiros ao dividirem os despojos. 3Pois o jugo que oprimia o povo – a carga sobre os ombros, o orgulho dos fiscais -, tu os abateste como na jornada de Madiã. 4Botas de tropa de assalto, trajes manchados de sangue, tudo será queimado e devorado pelas chamas. 5Porque nasceu para nós um menino, foi-nos dado um filho; ele traz aos ombros a marca da realeza; o nome que lhe foi dado é: Conselheiro admirável, Deus forte, Pai dos tempos futuros, Príncipe da paz. 6Grande será o seu reino, e a paz não há de ter fim sobre o trono de Davi e sobre o seu reinado, que ele irá consolidar e confirmar, em justiça e santidade, a partir de agora e para todo o sempre. O amor zeloso do Senhor dos exércitos há de realizar essas coisas. – Palavra do Senhor.

Ela o enfaixou e o colocou na manjedoura, pois não havia lugar para eles na hospedaria. 8Naquela região havia pastores que passavam a noite nos campos, tomando conta do seu rebanho. 9Um anjo do Senhor apareceu aos pastores, a glória do Senhor os envolveu em luz, e eles ficaram com muito medo. 10O anjo, porém, disse aos pastores: “Não tenhais medo! Lucas inicia sua narrativa do nascimento de Jesus enquadrando o fato histórico num lugar e num tempo determinados. A seguir, destaca o acontecimento e o seu anúncio. Os pastores foram os primeiros a receber a boa notícia e a proclamaram. Graças a eles, a boa-nova da encarnação de Jesus caminhou na história e chegou até nós. É importante que essa notícia não fique esquecida, mas haja homens e mulheres de boa vontade que continuem a mantê-la sempre atual. Um menino nasceu e foi acolhido numa manjedoura entre os animais. Celebramos o nascimento dessa criança. Nesta noite santa, somos convidados a unir nosso coro à multidão celeste e cantar: “Glória a Deus nas alturas e paz na terra aos que ele ama”.
To think about
Luke begins his narrative of the birth of Jesus by framing the historical fact in a specific place and time. Then he highlights the event and its announcement. The pastors were the first to receive the good news and proclaimed it. Thanks to them, the good news of Jesus' incarnation has gone down in history and has reached us. It is important that this news is not forgotten, but there are men and women of good will who continue to keep it current. A boy was born and was welcomed in a manger among the animals. We celebrate the birth of this child. On this holy night, we are invited to join our choir to the heavenly crowd and sing: "Glory to God on high and peace on earth to those he loves".
