Leitura do primeiro livro de Samuel 1,24-28 – Naqueles dias, 24Ana, logo que o desmamou, levou consigo Samuel à casa do Senhor, em Silo, e mais um novilho de três anos, três arrobas de farinha e um odre de vinho. O menino, porém, era ainda uma criança. 25Depois de sacrificarem o novilho, apresentaram o menino a Eli. 26E Ana disse-lhe: “Ouve, meu senhor, por tua vida, eu sou a mulher que esteve aqui orando ao Senhor, na tua presença. 27Eis o menino por quem eu pedi, e o Senhor ouviu a minha súplica. 28Portanto, eu também o ofereço ao Senhor, a fim de que só a ele sirva em todos os dias da sua vida”. E adoraram o Senhor. – Palavra do Senhor.

My heart rejoiced in my Lord, savior.
1. My heart rejoices in the Lord, / and my forehead rises in my God. / My mouth defies my rivals / because I rejoice in your salvation.
2. The bow of the strong has been doubled, it has been broken, / but the weak have put on vigor. / The sated were employed for bread, / but the poor and the hungry were satisfied. / She often gave birth to what was sterile, / but the mother of many children withered.

Doravante todas as gerações me chamarão bem-aventurada, 49porque o Todo-poderoso fez grandes coisas em meu favor. O seu nome é santo, 50e sua misericórdia se estende, de geração em geração, a todos os que o temem. 51Ele mostrou a força de seu braço: dispersou os soberbos de coração. 52Derrubou do trono os poderosos e elevou os humildes. 53Encheu de bens os famintos e despediu os ricos de mãos vazias. 54Socorreu Israel, seu servo, lembrando-se de sua misericórdia, 55conforme prometera aos nossos pais, em favor de Abraão e de sua descendência para sempre”. 56Maria ficou três meses com Isabel; depois voltou para casa. – Palavra da salvação.

Maria canta por causa das maravilhas que Deus opera em favor do povo. O cântico mostra que Maria estava em total sintonia com a mensagem dos profetas e o espírito dos salmos, nos quais ela se inspira. Enquanto proclama a grandeza do Senhor, ela estremece de alegria em Deus, que a escolheu para ser a mãe do Salvador. Consciente de que todas as gerações vão considerá-la feliz, ela realça a misericórdia de Deus para com os pobres e “aqueles que o temem”. Igualmente destaca a justiça de Deus, que provoca verdadeira reviravolta: “Derrubou do trono os poderosos e exaltou os humildes”. Sublinha, enfim, a lealdade do Senhor, que cumpre suas promessas “em favor de Abraão e de sua descendência para sempre”.
To think about
Mary sings because of the wonders that God works for the people. The song shows that Mary was in complete harmony with the message of the prophets and the spirit of the psalms, in which she is inspired. As she proclaims the greatness of the Lord, she trembles with joy in God, who chose her to be the mother of the Savior. Aware that all generations will consider her happy, she highlights God's mercy for the poor and "those who fear him". Lord Jesus, with Your mother, we rejoice in God our Savior. For, as she exclaimed, the Almighty has accomplished great benefits in His behalf, His name is Holy and His mercy endures from generation to generation. He brought down the mighty from thrones and exalted the humble. Amen.
