Leitura da primeira carta de São João 2,12-17 – 12Eu vos escrevo, filhinhos: os vossos pecados foram perdoados por meio do seu nome. 13Eu vos escrevo, pais: vós conheceis aquele que é desde o princípio. Eu vos escrevo, jovens: vós vencestes o maligno. 14Já vos escrevi, filhinhos: vós conheceis o Pai. Já vos escrevi, jovens: vós sois fortes, a Palavra de Deus permanece em vós, e vencestes o maligno. 15Não ameis o mundo nem o que há no mundo. Se alguém ama o mundo, não está nele o amor do Pai. 16Porque tudo o que há no mundo – as paixões da natureza, a concupiscência dos olhos e a ostentação da riqueza – não vem do Pai, mas do mundo. 17Ora, o mundo passa, e também a sua concupiscência; mas aquele que faz a vontade de Deus permanece para sempre. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the first letter of St. John 2,12-17 - 12I write to you, little children: your sins have been forgiven through his name. 13I write to you, parents: you know him who is from the beginning. Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 2,36-40 – Naquele tempo, 36havia também uma profetisa, chamada Ana, filha de Fanuel, da tribo de Aser. Era de idade muito avançada; quando jovem, tinha sido casada e vivera sete anos com o marido. 37Depois ficara viúva e agora já estava com oitenta e quatro anos. Não saía do templo, dia e noite servindo a Deus com jejuns e orações. 38Ana chegou nesse momento e pôs-se a louvar a Deus e a falar do menino a todos os que esperavam a libertação de Jerusalém. 39Depois de cumprirem tudo, conforme a Lei do Senhor, voltaram à Galileia, para Nazaré, sua cidade. 40O menino crescia e tornava-se forte, cheio de sabedoria; e a graça de Deus estava com ele. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,36-40 - At that time, there was also a prophetess, named Ana, daughter of Fanuel, of the tribe of Aser. He was very old; as a young woman, she had been married and lived with her husband for seven years. 37Then she had become a widow and was now eighty-four years old. He did not leave the temple, day and night, serving God with fasting and prayers. 38Anna arrived at that moment and began to praise God and to speak of the boy to all who were waiting for the liberation of Jerusalem. 39 After completing everything, according to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to Nazareth, their city. 40The boy grew and became strong, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was with him. - Word of salvation.

Representantes dos antigos profetas, Ana e Simeão testemunham a presença de Maria, José e o menino Jesus. Simeão exulta de alegria porque ergue nos braços o
Salvador; o pai e a mãe do menino ficam maravilhados com o que ouvem a respeito do filho. A profetisa Ana, por sua vez, dá graças a Deus e fala do menino a “todos os que esperam a libertação de Jerusalém”.

Ó Menino Jesus, quando foste apresentado ao Senhor no Templo, encheste de júbilo a profetisa Ana. Ela dava graças a Deus e, diante de todos, exaltava Tua presença como o libertador do povo de Israel. Com Teus pais, cumpriste “todas as coisas segundo a Lei do Senhor”. E crescias cheio de sabedoria. Amém.
To Pray
O Child Jesus, when you were introduced to the Lord in the Temple, you filled the prophetess with joy. She gave thanks to God and, in front of all, exalted Your presence as the deliverer of the people of Israel. With Your parents, you fulfilled "all things according to the Law of the Lord". And you grew up full of wisdom. Amen.
