1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the book of the prophet Jeremiah 23,5-8 - 5 ″ Behold, the days will come, says the Lord, when I will bring forth a descendant of David; he will reign as king and will be wise, will enforce justice and righteousness on earth. 6In those days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in peace; this is the name by which they will be called: ‘Lord, our justice’. 7Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when it will no longer be used to swear by 'the life of the Lord who brought the children of Israel out of Egypt', 8but 'by the life of the Lord who took and brought back the descendants of the house of Israel from the northern country and all other countries to which he had expelled them; then they will live in their land '”. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 71/72
Bendito seja eternamente! Amém, amém!

Psalm 71/72
In your days, justice will flourish / and peace in abundance, forever.
1. Give the king your powers, Lord God, / your justice to the descendant of royalty! / With justice he will rule your people, / with fairness he will judge your poor.
2. he will set free the beggar who begs / and the poor that nobody wants to help. / He will pity the destitute and the unhappy / and the life of the humble will save.
3. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, / because he alone works wonders! / Blessed be his glorious name! / Blessed be forever! Amen, amen!

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 1,18-24 - 18The origin of Jesus Christ was like this: Mary, her mother, was promised in marriage to Joseph, and, before they lived together, she became pregnant by the action of the Holy Spirit. 19Joseph, her husband, was fair and, not wanting to denounce her, he decided to abandon Maria in secret. 20While Joseph was thinking about it, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said to him: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife, because she conceived by the action of the Holy Spirit. 21She will bear a son, and you will give him the name of Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins ”. 22 All this happened to fulfill what the Lord had said by the prophet: 23 ″ Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son. He will be called by the name of Emmanuel, which means: God is with us ”. 24When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded and accepted his wife. - Word of salvation.

To think about
The biblical passage tells of Mary's pregnancy “by the work of the Holy Spirit” and her marriage to Joseph, “son of David”. It is natural for José to find his wife's pregnancy strange "before they live together". But, behold, God comes to clarify the facts: “An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying: 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife, for what was generated in her comes from the Holy Spirit '”. Joseph understands that it is God's grand intervention in view of the salvation of the world and that he, Joseph, is being chosen to be part of this wonderful divine plan. Like Mary, Joseph gives himself to the will of God.

To Pray
O Jesus, God-with-us, blessed be God for Your mother, Mary, who became pregnant with You by the Holy Spirit. Blessed be God also for Joseph, who, enlightened by the same Spirit, remained a faithful companion of Mary and understood the divine mystery that took place in her. Amen.
