Em contraste com o Antigo Testamento, quando as anunciações são dirigidas aos homens, aqui, Deus, por meio do anjo, se dirige a uma jovem moça, que se tornará mãe pela ação do Espírito. Deus realiza seu projeto, anunciado desde os profetas, com a colaboração, o sim de Maria. Ela é cheia de graça, porque o Senhor está com ela. Deus, por amor à humanidade, deu a plenitude da graça a ela. Diante da proposta do anjo, ela fica em dúvida, mas o mensageiro lhe esclarece e ela topa o desafio. O menino que vai nascer é o resultado da ação de Deus com o sim da jovem. Para Lucas, Maria é modelo do discipulado de Jesus, isto é, daquelas pessoas que, sempre atentas aos planos divinos, se dispõem a construir a nova sociedade. Nela encontramos duas atitudes fundamentais de quem deseja colaborar com o projeto de Jesus: fé e serviço. Ela é a crente por excelência, modelo de nossa fé. Essa página do evangelho nos ensina que Deus não escolhe os poderosos deste mundo, mas pessoas simples, da periferia, que estão sintonizadas com o seu projeto salvífico e dispostas a gestar o Filho na sociedade.

In contrast to the Old Testament, when the announcements are addressed to men, here, God, through the angel, addresses a young girl, who will become a mother by the action of the Spirit. God carries out his project, announced from the prophets, with the collaboration, the yes of Mary. She is full of grace, because the Lord is with her. God, out of love for humanity, gave it the fullness of grace. Faced with the angel's proposal, she is in doubt, but the messenger clarifies it and she takes up the challenge. The child to be born is the result of God's action with the young woman's yes. For Lucas, Mary is a model of Jesus' discipleship, that is, of those people who, always attentive to divine plans, are willing to build a new society. In it we find two fundamental attitudes of those who want to collaborate with the Jesus project: faith and service. She is the believer par excellence, model of our faith. This page of the gospel teaches us that God does not choose the powerful in this world, but simple people, from the periphery, who are attuned to his saving project and willing to bear the Son in society.
