1st. Reading
Reading the book of Numbers 6,22-27 - 22The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons: When blessing the children of Israel, say to them: 24'The Lord bless you and keep you! 25The Lord make his face shine on you and have mercy on you! 26The Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace! ’27So they will call on my name over the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 66/67

Psalm 66/67
May God give us his grace and blessing.
1. May God give us his grace and blessing, / and his face shine on us! / That his way be known on earth / and his salvation among the peoples.
2. Rejoice over the whole earth, / for you judge the universe justly; / the righteous governmental peoples / and the nations, throughout the land, the nations.
3. May the nations glorify you, O Lord, / may all the nations glorify you! / May the Lord and our God bless us, / and respect the ends of the earth!

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,16-21 - At that time, 16 pastors rushed to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the newborn lying in the manger. 17 When they saw him, they told him what had been said about the boy. 18And all who heard the shepherds were amazed at what they were saying. 19As for Mary, she kept all these facts and meditated on them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard, as they had been told. 21When the eight days for the boy's circumcision were completed, they named him Jesus, as he had been called by the angel before he was conceived. - Word of salvation.

To think about
The Second Vatican Council states: “Since the most remote times, the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of Mother of God, to whose support the faithful come with their supplications in all their dangers and needs” (Lumen Gentium, 66 ). From the beginning, the Church recognizes that the mystery of the Incarnation allowed her to understand and clarify the mystery of the Mother of the Incarnate Word: “In this study the Council of Ephesus, in the year 431, was of decisive importance, during which, with great joy of Christians , the truth about Mary's divine motherhood was solemnly confirmed as the Church's truth of faith. Mary is the Mother of God, since, through the work of the Holy Spirit, she conceived in her virgin bosom and gave the world Jesus Christ, the Son of God consubstantial to the Father ”(St. John Paul II, Redemptoris Mater, 4).

To Pray
O divine Child of Bethlehem, at Your side are Your holy Mother, Mary, and Your father, Joseph, and they provide You with all the care that a newborn needs. In a hurry, the shepherds also arrive to contemplate You and to go out "glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen". Amen.
