Leitura da primeira carta de São João 4,19-5,4 – Caríssimos, 19quanto a nós, amamos a Deus porque ele nos amou primeiro. 20Se alguém disser: “Amo a Deus”, entretanto odeia o seu irmão, é um mentiroso; pois quem não ama o seu irmão, a quem vê, não poderá amar a Deus, a quem não vê. 21E este é o mandamento que dele recebemos: aquele que ama a Deus ame também o seu irmão. 5,1Todo o que crê que Jesus é o Cristo nasceu de Deus, e quem ama aquele que gerou alguém, amará também aquele que dele nasceu. 2Podemos saber que amamos os filhos de Deus quando amamos a Deus e guardamos os seus mandamentos. 3Pois isto é amar a Deus: observar os seus mandamentos. E os seus mandamentos não são pesados, 4pois todo o que nasceu de Deus vence o mundo. E esta é a vitória que venceu o mundo: a nossa fé. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the first letter of St. John 4,19-5,4 – Dear friends, 19 as for us, we love God because he first loved us. 20If anyone says, “I love God,” however he hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he sees, cannot love God, whom he does not see. 21And this is the commandment we have received from him: he who loves God should also love his brother. 5.1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ was born of God, and whoever loves one who has begotten someone, will also love one who was born of him. 2 We can know that we love the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments. 3For this is loving God: keeping his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for everything that was born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that won the world: our faith. - Word of the Lord.

As nações de toda a terra / hão de adorar-vos, ó Senhor!
1. Dai ao rei vossos poderes, Senhor Deus, / vossa justiça ao descendente da realeza! / Com justiça ele governe o vosso povo, / com equidade ele julgue os vossos pobres.
2. Há de livrá-los da violência e opressão, / pois vale muito o sangue deles a seus olhos! / Hão de rezar também por ele sem cessar, / bendizê-lo e honrá-lo cada dia.

The nations of the whole earth will worship you, O Lord!
1. Give the king your powers, Lord God, / your justice to the descendant of royalty! / With justice he will rule your people, / with fairness he will judge your poor.
2. You must free them from violence and oppression, / for their blood is worth much in your eyes! / They will also pray for him without ceasing, / bless and honor him every day.

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 4,14-22 – Naquele tempo, 14Jesus voltou para a Galileia com a força do Espírito, e sua fama espalhou-se por toda a redondeza. 15Ele ensinava nas suas sinagogas, e todos o elogiavam. E veio à cidade de Nazaré, onde se tinha criado. Conforme seu costume, entrou na sinagoga no sábado e levantou-se para fazer a leitura. 17Deram-lhe o livro do profeta Isaías. Abrindo o livro, Jesus achou a passagem em que está escrito: 18“O Espírito do Senhor está sobre mim, porque ele me consagrou com a unção para anunciar a Boa-nova aos pobres; enviou-me para proclamar a libertação aos cativos e aos cegos a recuperação da vista; para libertar os oprimidos 19e para proclamar um ano da graça do Senhor”. 20Depois fechou o livro, entregou-o ao ajudante e sentou-se. Todos os que estavam na sinagoga tinham os olhos fixos nele. 21Então começou a dizer-lhes: “Hoje se cumpriu esta passagem da Escritura que acabastes de ouvir”. 22Todos davam testemunho a seu respeito, admirados com as palavras cheias de encanto que saíam da sua boca. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 4,14-22 - At that time, 14Jesus returned to Galilee with the power of the Spirit, and his fame spread throughout the neighborhood. 15He taught in his synagogues, and everyone praised him. And he came to the city of Nazareth, where he had grown up. As per his custom, he entered the synagogue on Saturday and got up to read. 17 They gave him the book of the prophet Isaiah. Opening the book, Jesus found the passage in which it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he consecrated me with the anointing to announce the Good News to the poor; he sent me to proclaim liberation for the captives and the blind to recover their sight; to free the oppressed 19 and to proclaim a year of the Lord's grace ”. 20Then he closed the book, handed it to the assistant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue had their eyes fixed on him. 21Then he began to say to them, "Today this passage of Scripture that you have just heard has been fulfilled." 22Everyone testified about him, amazed by the words full of charm that came out of his mouth. - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
Hoje, Jesus, guiado pelo Espírito, se dirige à sinagoga de Nazaré e inicia sua missão profética e libertadora, assumindo uma citação do profeta Isaías. Jesus veio para todos, mas de modo especial para os pobres, presos, cegos e oprimidos. O anúncio messiânico da salvação que Jesus propõe não é apenas uma “salvação da alma”, mas uma salvação de todas as formas de escravidão, exploração e degradação. O Mestre veio para promover a libertação e a recuperação da dignidade de todo ser humano. Sempre que nos empenhamos nesse projeto de Jesus, revelamos o próprio Deus, pois é isso que ele quer para todos os seus filhos.
To think about
Today, Jesus, guided by the Spirit, goes to the synagogue in Nazareth and begins his prophetic and liberating mission, assuming a quote from the prophet Isaiah. Jesus came for everyone, but especially for the poor, imprisoned, blind and oppressed. The messianic announcement of salvation that Jesus proposes is not just a “salvation of the soul”, but a salvation from all forms of slavery, exploitation and degradation. The Master came to promote the liberation and the recovery of the dignity of every human being. Whenever we are engaged in this project of Jesus, we reveal God Himself, for that is what He wants for all of his children.

Ó Jesus Messias, com a força do Espírito, voltas a Nazaré e, na sinagoga, a partir do Livro Sagrado, Te manifestas como aquele que vem realizar o que fora predito pelo profeta Isaías. És o libertador enviado por Deus para evangelizar e acudir a todos. Amém.

O Jesus Messias, with the power of the Spirit, you return to Nazareth and, in the synagogue, from the Holy Book, You manifest yourself as one who comes to accomplish what was predicted by the prophet Isaiah. You are the deliverer sent by God to evangelize and help everyone. Amen.
