🇧🇷Ótimo dia - 04 Jan - Liturgia Diária ::: 🇺🇸Great day - Jan 04 - Daily Liturgy

Be converted, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the first letter of St. John 3,22-4,6 - Dear friends, 22everything we ask for we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what he pleases. This is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and that we love one another, according to the commandment he has given us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains with God and God remains with him. That he remains with us, we know it by the Spirit that he has given us. 4.1 Dear friends, do not believe in any spirit, but examine the spirits to see if they are from God, for many false prophets have come into the world. 2This is the criterion for knowing whether an inspiration comes from God: every spirit that leads to profess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is from God; 3and every spirit that does not profess faith in Jesus is not of God - it is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that the antichrist will come; well, he is already in the world. 4 Little children, you are of God and you have overcome the antichrist. For with you is who is greater than he who is in the world. 5Your adversaries are of the world; therefore, they act according to the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us; those who are not of God do not listen to us. In this we recognize the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 2

Psalm 2
I will give you all peoples for your inheritance.
1. I will enact the Lord's decree, † this is how the Lord God spoke to me: / “You are my Son, and today I have begotten you!” / You can ask me, and in response I will give you, † for your inheritance, all peoples and nations, / and the whole earth shall be your domain.
2. And now, mighty, understand; / sovereigns, learn this lesson: / fearfully serve God, render him glory / and pay homage to him with respect!

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 4,12-17.23-25 - At that time, when he heard that John had been arrested, Jesus returned to Galilee. 13 He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum, which is on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, 14in the territory of Zabulon and Naphtali, to fulfill what was said by the prophet Isaiah: 15 “Land of Zabulon, land of Naphtali, way of the sea, region across the Jordan River, Galilee of the pagans! 16The people who lived in darkness saw a great light; and for those who lived in the dark region of death, a light shone ”. 17 From then on, Jesus began to preach, saying, "Be converted, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." 23Jesus walked all over Galilee, teaching in his synagogues, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom and healing all kinds of sickness and disease of the people. 24And his fame spread throughout Syria. All the patients took him, who suffered from various illnesses and torments: demoniacs, epileptics and paralytics. And Jesus healed them. 25Numerous crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapole, Jerusalem, Judea and the region beyond the Jordan. - Word of salvation.

To think about
John the Baptist leaves the scene and Jesus enters. The path opened by the precursor will now be followed by Mestre de Nazaré. After passing through the desert and overcoming the adversary's challenges, he begins his mission, heading for Capernaum, in the territory of Zabulon and Neftali, thus fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy. He is the great light that shines for those who live in the darkness of misery and abandonment. The first proclamation of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew is the proclamation of the Kingdom, which also requires conversion: "Repent, because the Kingdom of God is at hand". And he spread this good news wherever he went, and many patients were healed. Jesus' fame grows and many seek him out. Every leader who takes an interest in the people on behalf of the needy will be rewarded by all of them with care and love.

To Pray
O Jesus, tireless missionary, you have gone to live in Capernaum, where you have become alive hope of liberation to those "seated in the dark region of death". You began to proclaim the Kingdom of God, whose signs you performed, teaching in synagogues and curing all sickness and disease. Amen.
