O Evangelho deste final de semana nos coloca diante do comentário de Jesus a respeito das mortes de alguns galileus e do acidente da torre de Siloé, quando aproveita para contar a parábola da figueira estéril. As duas perícopes falam da mesma realidade: a necessidade e a urgência de conversão, tema muito presente na Quaresma. Os acidentes narrados não são castigo de Deus, mas podem ser ocasião para chamar à mudança de vida. As pessoas que morreram não são mais pecadoras do que aquelas que não foram atingidas. Deus não é vingativo e não se alegra com a morte do pecador. Pelo contrário, ele deseja que ele se converta e viva. A parábola da figueira estéril revela a misericórdia e a paciência de Deus. Aceitando a proposta do agricultor, o dono lhe oferece mais tempo para que a figueira produza frutos. É tempo de conversão, é tempo de produzir frutos que enobrecem a vida. O grande risco é uma vida estéril, sem perspectivas, sem aspirações e sem avanços. Sem nos dar conta, trilhamos caminhos mais prazerosos, que alimentam nosso individualismo. A religião e a fé precisam mudar nosso coração. É muito fácil viver uma religião sem compromisso. Evitemos, pois, transformar o projeto de Jesus num “cristianismo estéril”.

The Gospel of this weekend puts us before Jesus' comment about the deaths of some Galileans and the accident of the tower of Siloam, when he takes the opportunity to tell the parable of the barren fig tree. The two pericopes speak of the same reality: the necessity and urgency of conversion, a very present theme in Lent. The narrated accidents are not punishment of God, but they can be occasion to call to the change of life. The people who died are no more sinful than those who have not been hit. God is not vindictive and does not rejoice at the death of the sinner. On the contrary, he wants him to convert and live. The parable of the barren fig tree reveals the mercy and patience of God. Accepting the farmer's proposal, the owner gives him more time for the fig tree to produce fruit. It is time for conversion, it is time to produce fruits that ennoble life. The great risk is a sterile life, with no prospects, no aspirations, no progress. Without realizing it, we walk more pleasant paths that feed our individualism. Religion and faith need to change our hearts. It is very easy to live a religion without commitment. Let us therefore avoid transforming the project of Jesus into a "barren Christianity".

Levou, um dia, o rebanho deserto adentro e chegou ao monte de Deus, o Horeb. 2Apareceu-lhe o anjo do Senhor numa chama de fogo, do meio de uma sarça. Moisés notou que a sarça estava em chamas, mas não se consumia, e disse consigo: 3“Vou aproximar-me dessa visão extraordinária, para ver por que a sarça não se consome”. 4O Senhor viu que Moisés se aproximava para observar e chamou-o do meio da sarça, dizendo: “Moisés! Moisés!” Ele respondeu: “Aqui estou”. 5E Deus disse: “Não te aproximes! Tira as sandálias dos pés, porque o lugar onde estás é uma terra santa”. 6E acrescentou: “Eu sou o Deus de teus pais, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó”. Moses noticed that the bush was on fire, but it was not consumed, and he said to himself, 3 "I will approach this extraordinary view, to see why the bush is not consumed." 4The Lord saw that Moses was coming to observe and called him out of the bush, saying, "Moses! Moses! "He replied," Here I am. " 5 And God said, "Do not approach! Take off the sandals of your feet, for the place where you stand is a holy land. Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 13,1-9 – 1Naquele tempo, vieram algumas pessoas trazendo notícias a Jesus a respeito dos galileus que Pilatos tinha matado, misturando seu sangue com o dos sacrifícios que ofereciam. 2Jesus lhes respondeu: “Vós pensais que esses galileus eram mais pecadores do que todos os outros galileus por terem sofrido tal coisa? 3Eu vos digo que não. Mas, se vós não vos converterdes, ireis morrer todos do mesmo modo. 4E aqueles dezoito que morreram quando a torre de Siloé caiu sobre eles? Pensais que eram mais culpados do que todos os outros moradores de Jerusalém? 5Eu vos digo que não. Mas, se não vos converterdes, ireis morrer todos do mesmo modo”. 6E Jesus contou esta parábola: “Certo homem tinha uma figueira plantada na sua vinha. Foi até ela procurar figos e não encontrou. 7Então disse ao vinhateiro: ‘Já faz três anos que venho procurando figos nesta figueira e nada encontro. Corta-a! Por que está ela inutilizando a terra?’ 8Ele, porém, respondeu: ‘Senhor, deixa a figueira ainda este ano. Vou cavar em volta dela e colocar adubo. 9Pode ser que venha a dar fruto. Se não der, então tu a cortarás”. – Palavra da salvação.
