Cobradores de impostos e pecadores chegavam perto de Jesus para ouvi-lo, ao passo que os fariseus e os doutores da Lei censuravam o Mestre. Jesus colhe a ocasião para narrar uma das mais belas parábolas dos Evangelhos. Conhecida como parábola do filho pródigo, apresenta-se melhor como parábola do pai misericordioso. São impressionantes e admiráveis as atitudes do pai: ele não perde tempo censurando a vida extravagante do filho, mas o recebe de volta, cercando-o de carinho e dignidade. Assim age o Pai de imensa misericórdia. Fariseus e doutores da Lei, representados pelo filho mais velho, são incapazes de abrir-se à misericórdia e ao perdão.

Tax collectors and sinners came near Jesus to hear him, while the Pharisees and teachers of the Law censured the Master. Jesus takes the opportunity to narrate one of the most beautiful parables of the Gospels. Known as the parable of the prodigal son, he best describes himself as the parable of the merciful father. His father's attitudes are impressive and admirable: he does not waste time censoring his son's extravagant life, but he receives him back, enveloping him with affection and dignity. Thus does the Father of immense mercy. Pharisees and lawyers, represented by the eldest son, are unable to open themselves to mercy and forgiveness.

Reading of the prophecy of Micah 7,14-15.18-20 | 14Pass your people with the staff of authority, the flock of your property, the inhabitants scattered in the forest and the cultivated fields; that they may enjoy the land of Bashan and Gilead, as in the old days. 15And as it was in the days when thou broughtest us out of Egypt, make us see new wonders. 18What God, like you, who exterminates iniquity and you forget the sin of those who are the rest of your property? He does not hold a grudge forever, but love is mercy. 19 He will return to compassion for us, he will forget our iniquities, and cast all our sins to the bottom of the sea. 20You will keep faithful to Jacob and have compassion on Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from time past. - Word of the Lord.

Vou voltar e encontrar o meu pai e direi: / Meu pai, eu pequei contra o céu e contra ti (Lc 15,18).
Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 15,1-3.11-32 – Naquele tempo, 1os publicanos e pecadores aproximavam-se de Jesus para o escutar. 2Os fariseus, porém, e os mestres da lei criticavam Jesus: “Este homem acolhe os pecadores e faz refeição com eles”. 3Então, Jesus contou-lhes esta parábola: 11“Um homem tinha dois filhos. 12O filho mais novo disse ao pai: ‘Pai, dá-me a parte da herança que me cabe’. E o pai dividiu os bens entre eles. 13Poucos dias depois, o filho mais novo juntou o que era seu e partiu para um lugar distante. E ali esbanjou tudo numa vida desenfreada. 14Quando tinha gasto tudo o que possuía, houve uma grande fome naquela região e ele começou a passar necessidade. 15Então foi pedir trabalho a um homem do lugar, que o mandou para seu campo cuidar dos porcos. 16O rapaz queria matar a fome com a comida que os porcos comiam, mas nem isso lhe davam. 17Então caiu em si e disse: ‘Quantos empregados do meu pai têm pão com fartura, e eu aqui, morrendo de fome. 18Vou-me embora, vou voltar para meu pai e dizer-lhe: ‘Pai, pequei contra Deus e contra ti; 19já não mereço ser chamado teu filho. Trata-me como a um dos teus empregados’. 20Então ele partiu e voltou para seu pai. Quando ainda estava longe, seu pai o avistou e sentiu compaixão. Correu-lhe ao encontro, abraçou-o e cobriu-o de beijos. 21O filho, então, lhe disse: ‘Pai, pequei contra Deus e contra ti. Já não mereço ser chamado teu filho’. 22Mas o pai disse aos empregados: ‘Trazei depressa a melhor túnica para vestir meu filho. E colocai um anel no seu dedo e sandálias nos pés. 23Trazei um novilho gordo e matai-o. Vamos fazer um banquete. 24Porque este meu filho estava morto e tornou a viver; estava perdido e foi encontrado’. E começaram a festa. 25O filho mais velho estava no campo. Ao voltar, já perto de casa, ouviu música e barulho de dança. 26Então chamou um dos criados e perguntou o que estava acontecendo. 27O criado respondeu: ‘É teu irmão que voltou. Teu pai matou o novilho gordo, porque o recuperou com saúde’. 28Mas ele ficou com raiva e não queria entrar. O pai, saindo, insistia com ele. 29Ele, porém, respondeu ao pai: ‘Eu trabalho para ti há tantos anos, jamais desobedeci a qualquer ordem tua. E tu nunca me deste um cabrito para eu festejar com meus amigos. 30Quando chegou esse teu filho, que esbanjou teus bens com prostitutas, matas para ele o novilho cevado’. 31Então o pai lhe disse: ‘Filho, tu estás sempre comigo e tudo o que é meu é teu. 32Mas era preciso festejar e alegrar-nos, porque este teu irmão estava morto e tornou a viver; estava perdido e foi encontrado’”. – Palavra da salvação.

The boy wanted to kill the hunger with the food that the pigs ate, but they did not give it to him. 17And he fell down and said, "How many of my father's servants have bread full of food, and I am here with a famine. 18I am going away, I will return to my father and say to him: 'Father, I have sinned against God and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son. Treat me like one of your employees. ' 20Then he departed, and returned to his father. When he was still far away, his father saw him and felt compassion. She ran to meet him, hugged him, and covered him with kisses. 21And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against God, and against thee. I no longer deserve to be called your son. ' 22But the father said to the servants, "Bring the best robe to my son. And put a ring on your finger and sandals on your feet. 23 I have laid a fat young bullock and slay him. But he said to his father, "I have labored for you for so many years, I have not disobeyed you. And you never gave me a kid to celebrate with my friends. 30 When your son, who has lavished your goods with prostitutes, you kill the fattened calf. ' 31And the father said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine. 32But it was necessary to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has lived again; was lost and was found.
