Jesus mostra aos discípulos a verdadeira fisionomia do Pai celeste. Ele ama a todos os seus filhos sem distinção. Cuidando de cada um, ama a todos, mandando sol e chuva para bons e maus. Seu amor é universal. O primeiro a reproduzir a bondade do Pai é o próprio Jesus. Generosamente aberto a todos, Jesus nunca fechou a porta a quem o procurava de coração sincero. Cercado de adversários e perseguidores, Jesus não guardou ódio contra eles; mesmo na hora da morte, pediu ao Pai que perdoasse as pessoas que o tinham crucificado. Por isso mesmo, Jesus tem credenciais para exigir de seus seguidores um amor gratuito, sem qualquer tipo de restrições. Os cristãos, em todo tempo, são chamados a criar e cultivar comunidades cuja razão de ser é a prática incondicional do amor.

Jesus shows the disciples the true physiognomy of the heavenly Father. He loves all his children without distinction. Taking care of each one, he loves everyone, sending sun and rain to good and bad. Your love is universal. The first to reproduce the goodness of the Father is Jesus himself. Generously open to all, Jesus never closed the door to anyone who sought him with a sincere heart. Surrounded by adversaries and persecutors, Jesus did not harbor hatred against them; even at the hour of death, asked the Father to forgive the people who had crucified him. For this reason, Jesus has the credentials to demand of his followers a gratuitous love, without any restrictions. Christians, at all times, are called to create and cultivate communities whose raison d'être is the unconditional practice of love.

Leitura do livro do Deuteronômio 26,16-19 – Moisés dirigiu a palavra ao povo de Israel e lhe disse: 16“Hoje, o Senhor teu Deus te manda cumprir esses preceitos e decretos. Guarda-os e observa-os com todo o teu coração e com toda a tua alma. 17Tu escolheste hoje o Senhor para ser o teu Deus, para seguires os seus caminhos e guardares seus preceitos, mandamentos e decretos, e para obedeceres à sua voz. 18E o Senhor te escolheu, hoje, para que sejas para ele um povo particular, como te prometeu, a fim de observares todos os seus mandamentos. 19Assim ele te fará ilustre entre todas as nações que criou e te tornará superior em honra e glória, a fim de que sejas o povo santo do Senhor teu Deus, como ele disse”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 5,43-48 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 43“Vós ouvistes o que foi dito: ‘Amarás o teu próximo e odiarás o teu inimigo!’ 44Eu, porém, vos digo, amai os vossos inimigos e rezai por aqueles que vos perseguem! 45Assim vos tornareis filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus, porque ele faz nascer o sol sobre maus e bons e faz cair a chuva sobre justos e injustos. 46Porque, se amais somente aqueles que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Os cobradores de impostos não fazem a mesma coisa? 47E se saudais somente os vossos irmãos, o que fazeis de extraordinário? Os pagãos não fazem a mesma coisa? 48Portanto, sede perfeitos como o vosso Pai celeste é perfeito”. – Palavra da salvação.
