Leitura da primeira carta de são João 2,18-21 – 18Filhinhos, esta é a última hora. Ouvistes dizer que o anticristo virá. Com efeito, muitos anticristos já apareceram. Por isso, sabemos que chegou a última hora. 19Eles saíram do nosso meio, mas não eram dos nossos, pois, se fossem realmente dos nossos, teriam permanecido conosco. Mas era necessário ficar claro que nem todos são dos nossos. 20Vós já recebestes a unção do Santo, e todos tendes conhecimento. 21Se eu vos escrevi, não é porque ignorais a verdade, mas porque a conheceis e porque nenhuma mentira provém da verdade. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading the first letter of Saint John 2: 18-21 - 18Files, this is the last hour. You have heard that the antichrist will come. Indeed, many antichrists have already appeared. So we know that the last hour has come. 19They came out of our midst, but they were not of our own, for if they were really of our people, they would have stayed with us. But it was necessary to make it clear that not all of them are ours. 20You have received the anointing of the Holy One, and you all know. 21If I have written to you, it is not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it and because no lie comes from the truth. - Word of the Lord.

Início do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 1,1-18 – 1No princípio era a Palavra, e a Palavra estava com Deus; e a Palavra era Deus. 2No princípio estava ela com Deus. 3Tudo foi feito por ela, e sem ela nada se fez de tudo que foi feito. 4Nela estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens. 5E a luz brilha nas trevas, e as trevas não conseguiram dominá-la. 6Surgiu um homem enviado por Deus; seu nome era João. 7Ele veio como testemunha, para dar testemunho da luz, para que todos chegassem à fé por meio dele. 8Ele não era a luz, mas veio para dar testemunho da luz: 9daquele que era a luz de verdade, que, vindo ao mundo, ilumina todo ser humano. 10A Palavra estava no mundo – e o mundo foi feito por meio dela –, mas o mundo não quis conhecê-la. 11Veio para o que era seu, e os seus não a acolheram. 12Mas a todos os que a receberam, deu-lhes capacidade de se tornarem filhos de Deus, isto é, aos que acreditam em seu nome, 13pois estes não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade do varão, mas de Deus mesmo. 14E a Palavra se fez carne e habitou entre nós. E nós contemplamos a sua glória, glória que recebe do Pai como Filho unigênito, cheio de graça e de verdade. 15Dele João dá testemunho, clamando: “Este é aquele de quem eu disse: ‘O que vem depois de mim passou à minha frente, porque ele existia antes de mim’”. 16De sua plenitude todos nós recebemos graça por graça. 17Pois por meio de Moisés foi dada a lei, mas a graça e a verdade nos chegaram através de Jesus Cristo. 18A Deus ninguém jamais viu. Mas o unigênito de Deus, que está na intimidade do Pai, ele no-lo deu a conhecer. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel 

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 1,1-18 - 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God; and the Word was God. 2In the beginning was she with God. 3 All things were made by her, and without her was not all that was made. 4 In her was life, and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness can not subdue it. 6A man came from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to bear witness of the light, that all might come to faith through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light: 9 He was the light of truth, who came into the world and enlightens every human being. 10The Word was in the world-and the world was made through it-but the world did not want to know it. 11 She came to what was his own, and his own did not receive her. 12But to all who received her, she gave them the ability to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in his name, 13 for they were not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of the man, but of God Himself. 14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we behold his glory, the glory which he receives from the Father as the only begotten Son, full of grace and truth. 15Dele John testifies, crying out, "This is the one of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has passed before me, because he was before me.'" 16 From his fullness we all receive grace for grace. 17For through the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came to us through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the only begotten of God, who is in the intimacy of the Father, he made known to him. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

A introdução nos apresenta a trajetória de Jesus Cristo,  enviado pelo Pai para realizar no mundo uma missão, a saber, transmitir a mensagem de salvação. Terminada a missão, ele volta para o Pai (v. 18). Aqui Jesus é designado com um nome especial: Palavra. Palavra eficaz, criadora: ”o mundo foi feito por meio dela”. A Palavra é Deus; existe desde o princípio e se manifesta como pessoa humana: ”a Palavra se fez carne e armou sua tenda entre nós”. Não chega de repente. Foi anunciada por João Batista. O que João pregava é que todos acreditassem em Jesus, a luz verdadeira. Muitos não acreditaram. Jesus e seus discípulos experimentaram forte oposição e perseguições. Mas aos que acreditaram, Jesus “deu o poder de se tornarem filhos de Deus”.

Reflecting the Gospel 

The introduction presents us the path of Jesus Christ, sent by the Father to carry out in the world a mission, namely, to convey the message of salvation. When the mission is finished, he returns to the Father (verse 18). Here Jesus is assigned a special name: Word. Effective, creative word: "the world was made through it." The Word is God; exists from the beginning and manifests itself as a human person: "the Word became flesh and pitched his tent among us." It does not arrive suddenly. It was announced by John the Baptist. What John preached was that all should believe in Jesus, the true light. Many did not. Jesus and his disciples experienced strong opposition and persecution. But to those who believed, Jesus "gave the power to become children of God."
