adormeceu. 12 E viu em sonho uma escada apoiada no chão, com a outra ponta tocando o céu e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo por ela. 13 No
alto da escada estava o Senhor, que lhe dizia: “Eu sou o Senhor, Deus
de Abraão, teu pai, e Deus de Isaac; darei a ti e à tua descendência a
terra em que dormes. 14 A tua descendência será como o pó da
terra, e te expandirás para o ocidente e o oriente, para o norte e para o
sul. Em ti e em tua descendência serão abençoadas todas as nações da
terra. 15 Estou contigo e te guardarei aonde quer que vás, e
te reconduzirei a esta terra. Nunca te abandonarei até cumprir o que te
prometi”. 16 Ao despertar, Jacó disse: “Sem dúvida, o Senhor está neste lugar e eu não sabia”. 17 Cheio de pavor, disse: “Como é terrível este lugar! Isto aqui só pode ser a casa de Deus e a porta do céu”. 18 Jacó
levantou-se bem cedo, tomou a pedra de que tinha feito travesseiro e
colocou-a de pé para servir de coluna sagrada, derramando óleo sobre
ela. 19 E deu ao lugar o nome de Betel. Antes, porém, a cidade chamava-se Luza. 20 Jacó fez um voto, dizendo: “Se Deus estiver comigo e me proteger nesta viagem, dando-me pão para comer e roupa para vestir, 21 e se eu voltar são e salvo para a casa de meu pai, então o Senhor será o meu Deus. 22 E esta pedra que ergui como coluna sagrada será uma ‘morada de Deus’”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Refletindo o Evangelho
O relato de um milagre se encaixa no relato de outro. O primeiro, a
cura de uma doença grave; o outro, a restituição da vida a uma menina
morta. Em ambos os casos, duas atitudes são decisivas: a fé que pede e
espera, e o toque físico de Jesus. Como em outras ocasiões, Jesus não se
move com base em preconceitos: deixa-se tocar pela mulher considerada
impura porque sofria de hemorragia. Depois toma a pequena defunta pela
mão e a faz levantar-se. Tocar em defunto também era ação proibida pelas
tradições antigas. Aquele que é a Vida e devolve a vida não pode
contaminar-se tocando um cadáver. Onde Jesus está presente, podem-se
dispensar os “flautistas e a multidão em alvoroço”, que celebram a
morte: “Eu sou a ressurreição. Quem acredita em mim, ainda que morra,
viverá” (Jo 11,25).
