Os discípulos e o jejum.

1a.Leitura - Gênesis 27,1-5.15-29

Leitura do livro do Gênesis – ¹ Quando Isaac ficou velho, seus olhos enfraqueceram e já não podia ver. Chamou, então, o filho mais velho, Esaú, e lhe disse: “Meu filho!” Este respondeu: “Aqui estou!” ² Disse-lhe o pai: “Como vês, já estou velho e não sei qual será o dia da minha morte. ³ Toma as tuas armas, as flechas e o arco, e sai para o campo. Se apanhares alguma caça, prepara-me um assado saboroso, ⁴ como sabes que eu gosto, e traze-o para que o coma e assim te dar a bênção antes de morrer”. ⁵ Rebeca escutava o que Isaac dizia a seu filho Esaú. Esaú saiu para o campo à procura de caça para o pai. ¹⁵ Rebeca tomou, então, as melhores roupas que o filho mais velho tinha em casa e vestiu com elas o filho mais novo, Jacó. ¹⁶ Cobriu-lhe as mãos e a parte lisa do pescoço com peles de cabrito. ¹⁷ Pôs nas mãos do filho Jacó o assado e o pão que havia preparado. ¹⁸ Este levou-os ao pai, dizendo: “Meu pai!” “Estou ouvindo”, respondeu Isaac. “Quem és tu, meu filho?” ¹⁹ E disse Jacó a seu pai: “Eu sou Esaú, teu filho primogênito; fiz como me ordenaste. Levanta-te, senta-te e come da minha caça, para me abençoares”. ²⁰ Isaac replicou-lhe: “Como conseguiste achar assim depressa, meu filho?” Ele respondeu: “É o Senhor teu Deus que fez que isso acontecesse”. ²¹ Isaac disse a Jacó: “Vem cá, meu filho, para que eu te apalpe e veja se és ou não meu filho Esaú”. ²² Jacó achegou-se a seu pai, Isaac, que o apalpou e disse: “A voz é a voz de Jacó, mas as mãos são as mãos de Esaú”. ²³ E não o reconheceu, pois suas mãos estavam peludas como as do seu filho Esaú. Então, decidiu abençoá-lo. ²⁴ Perguntou-lhe ainda: “Tu és, de fato, meu filho Esaú?” Ele respondeu: “Sou”. ²⁵ Isaac continuou: “Meu filho, serve-me da tua caça para eu comer e te abençoar”. Jacó serviu-o e ele comeu; trouxe-lhe depois vinho e ele bebeu. ²⁶ Disse-lhe então seu pai, Isaac: “Aproxima-te, meu filho, e beija-me”. ²⁷ Jacó aproximou-se e o beijou. Quando Isaac sentiu o cheiro das suas roupas, abençoou-o, dizendo: “Este é o cheiro do meu filho: é como o aroma de um campo fértil que o Senhor abençoou! ²⁸ Que Deus te conceda o orvalho do céu e a fertilidade da terra, a abundância de trigo e de vinho. ²⁹ Que os povos te sirvam e se prostrem as nações em tua presença. Sê o senhor de teus irmãos, e diante de ti se inclinem os filhos de tua mãe. Maldito seja quem te amaldiçoar, e quem te abençoar seja bendito!” – Palavra do Senhor.

Evangelho - Mateus 9,14-17

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, ¹⁴ os discípulos de João aproximaram-se de Jesus e perguntaram: “Por que razão nós e os fariseus praticamos jejuns, mas os teus discípulos não?” ¹⁵ Disse-lhes Jesus: “Por acaso, os amigos do noivo podem estar de luto enquanto o noivo está com eles? Dias virão em que o noivo será tirado do meio deles. Então, sim, eles jejuarão. ¹⁶ Ninguém coloca remendo de pano novo em roupa velha, porque o remendo repuxa a roupa e o rasgão fica maior ainda. ¹⁷ Também não se coloca vinho novo em odres velhos, senão os odres se arrebentam, o vinho se derrama e os odres se perdem. Mas vinho novo se coloca em odres novos, e assim os dois se conservam”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Mateus 9,14-17

Refletindo o Evangelho  

Os discípulos de João Batista vão até Jesus para pôr na balança dois comportamentos. Eles e os fariseus jejuam, ao passo que os discípulos de Jesus não jejuam. Por que não? Aos ouvidos dos fariseus soavam ainda as palavras de Oseias, retomadas por Jesus: “Vão e aprendam o que significa: ‘Quero misericórdia e não sacrifício’ ”. Agora vão aprender uma lição sobre a prática do jejum. Jejuar em vista de quê? Só para aumentar e exibir a coleção de boas obras como trunfo para ganhar a aprovação de Deus e conquistar o céu? Mas Deus aprova antes de tudo os que ouvem o “Noivo” da nova comunidade (Jesus) e põem em prática suas palavras. É o esforço que fazem “os amigos do noivo”. É o tempo da libertação para uma vida nova. Mas na cabeça dos fariseus essa novidade transformadora não entra.

Reflecting the Gospel

Louvai o Senhor, bendizei-o; louvai o Senhor, servos seus, que celebrais o louvor em seu templo e habitais junto aos átrios de Deus! Louvai o Senhor, porque é bom; cantai ao seu nome suave! Escolheu para si a Jacó, preferiu Israel por herança. Eu bem sei que o Senhor é tão grande, que é maior do que todos os deuses. Ele faz tudo quanto lhe agrada, † nas alturas dos céus e na terra, no oceano e nos fundos abismos. (Salmo 134/135).
