New wine in new skins - Mc 2,18-22

Texto Bíblico

Naquele tempo, 18 os discípulos de João Batista e os fariseus estavam jejuando. Então, vieram dizer a Jesus: “Por que os discípulos de João e os discípulos dos fariseus jejuam, e os teus discípulos não jejuam?” 19 Jesus respondeu: “Os convidados de um casamento poderiam, por acaso, fazer jejum, enquanto o noivo está com eles? Enquanto o noivo está com eles, os convidados não podem jejuar. 20 Mas vai chegar o tempo em que o noivo será tirado do meio deles; aí, então, eles vão jejuar. 21 Ninguém põe um remendo de pano novo numa roupa velha; porque o remendo novo repuxa o pano velho e o rasgão fica maior ainda. 22 Ninguém põe vinho novo em odres velhos; porque o vinho novo arrebenta os odres velhos e o vinho e os odres se perdem. Por isso, vinho novo em odres novos”.

Biblical Text 
At that time, 18 the disciples of John the Baptist and the Pharisees were fasting. Then came say to Jesus: "why John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, and your disciples do not fast?" 19 Jesus replied: "the guests of a wedding could, by chance, make fast, while the bridegroom is with them? While the bridegroom is with them, the guests cannot fast. 20 But there will come a time when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast. 21 nobody puts a patch of new cloth on an old clothes; because the patch again jerking the old cloth and the tear becomes bigger. 22 no one puts new wine in old skins; because the new wine bursts the old skins and the wine and the wineskins are lost. So, new wine in new bottles".

Refletindo

É importante lembrar que ‘novidade’ não são as novidades. Há pessoas que só vivem em busca de novidade, só querem novidades. Não se trata de coisas novas, de simplesmente saber coisas novas. Aqui, refere-se a ter uma mentalidade aberta a ser renovada. A novidade do Evangelho é a de ontem, de hoje e de amanhã. Esse Evangelho é sempre novo quando me abro de uma forma sempre nova para acolhê-lo em minha vida. Até acho um perigo muito grande aqueles que só vivem em busca de novidades na vida! Às vezes, escuto a expressão: “Eu quero novidades!”. É um perigo, um erro, uma tentação que a modernidade quer conduzir a nossa vida e o nosso coração. Isso não nos coloca, de fato, próximos à única novidade que é capaz de renovar a nossa vida. A novidade sempre nova é a Palavra de Deus penetrando em nosso interior, em nosso coração. Muitos não se converteram a Jesus, não tiveram suas vidas transformadas, porque não se abriram para a novidade do Reino de Deus. Se não nos desapegarmos dos conhecimentos que temos, a sabedoria que achamos que temos, aquela nossa forma velhaca de ver a vida e as coisas, a novidade da graça de Deus não acontece em nossa vida. A graça é nova, mas o coração está envelhecido, não se abre para o novo; então, o novo também não penetra em nós.

Reflecting 
It is important to remember that ' new ' is not the news. There are people who only live in search of novelty, they only want news. It's not about new things, just to know new things. Here, refers to having a mindset open to be renewed. The newness of the Gospel is that of yesterday, today and tomorrow. This Gospel is always new when I open a new form to welcome you in my life. I think it's a very big danger those who just live in search of news. Sometimes, I hear the expression: "I want news!". Is a danger, a mistake, a temptation that modernity wants to lead our lives and our hearts. It does not set us, in fact, the only novelty that is able to renew our life. The novelty always new is the word of God penetrating inside, in our heart. Many did not convert to Jesus, not have their lives transformed, why didn't open to the novelty of the Kingdom of God. If we do not desapegarmos the knowledge that we have, the wisdom that we think we have, that our way of seeing life and bad things, the novelty of the grace of God doesn't happen in our life. Grace is new, but the heart is aged, not open to the new; so, the new also does not penetrate in us.
