Leitura do livro do Apocalipse de São João 22,1-7 – A mim, João, 1o anjo do Senhor mostrou-me um rio de água viva, o qual brilhava como cristal. O rio brotava do trono de Deus e do Cordeiro. 2No meio da praça, de cada lado do rio, estão plantadas árvores da vida; elas dão frutos doze vezes por ano; em cada mês elas dão fruto; suas folhas servem para curar as nações. 3Já não haverá maldição alguma. Na cidade estará o trono de Deus e do Cordeiro, e seus servos poderão prestar-lhe culto. 4Verão a sua face, e o seu nome estará sobre suas frontes. 5Não haverá mais noite: não se precisará mais da luz da lâmpada nem da luz do sol, porque o Senhor Deus vai brilhar sobre eles e eles reinarão para toda a eternidade. 6Então, o anjo disse-me: “Estas palavras são dignas de fé e verdadeiras, pois o Senhor, o Deus que inspira os profetas, enviou o seu anjo, para mostrar aos seus servos o que deve acontecer muito em breve. 7Eis que eu venho em breve. Feliz aquele que observa as palavras da profecia deste livro”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the book of the Apocalypse of St. John 22,1-7 - To me, John, 1st angel of the Lord, he showed me a river of living water, which shone like crystal. The river flowed from the throne of God and the Lamb. 2In the middle of the square, on either side of the river, trees of life are planted; they bear fruit twelve times a year; each month they bear fruit; its leaves serve to heal the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse. 1. Come, let us rejoice in the Lord, / let us praise the rock that saves us! / Let us walk with praise, / and with joyful songs we celebrate it!
2. In fact, the Lord is the great God, / the great king, far greater than all the gods. / You have the depths of the abyss in your hands, / and the heights of the mountains belong to you; / the sea is his, for he was the one who made it, / and the firm land his hands shaped it.

Vigilância e oração, temas fortes e frequentes no tempo do Advento, são recomendações de Jesus para nossa vida. A oração perseverante coloca-nos em sintonia com Deus, atentos aos seus projetos, sem medo de sua visita. Nosso modelo de vigilância é Jesus Cristo, sempre pronto a fazer a vontade do Pai: “Faço sempre o que lhe agrada” (Jo 8,29). Aos cristãos de Tessalônica, o apóstolo Paulo recomendava: “Não vos canseis de fazer o bem” (2Ts 3,13).
To think about
Vigilance and prayer, strong and frequent themes at Advent, are Jesus' recommendations for our lives. Persevering prayer puts us in harmony with God, attentive to his projects, without fear of his visit. Our model of vigilance is Jesus Christ, always ready to do the Father's will: “I always do what pleases him” (Jn 8,29). To the Christians of Thessalonica, the apostle Paul recommended: “Do not get tired of doing good” (2Th 3,13).

Ó Jesus Mestre, Caminho, Verdade e Vida, Tua mensagem nos previne contra a excessiva preocupação com as coisas deste mundo. Elas podem nos desviar dos verdadeiros valores do evangelho. Ajuda-nos, Senhor, a ser perseverantes na prática do bem e construção do Teu Reino. Amém
