Leitura do livro do Apocalipse de São João 15,1-4 – Eu, João, 1vi no céu outro sinal, grande e admirável: sete anjos, com as sete últimas pragas. Com elas o furor de Deus ia-se consumar. 2Vi também como que um mar de vidro misturado com fogo. Sobre esse mar estavam, de pé, todos aqueles que saíram vitoriosos do confronto com a besta, com a imagem dela e com o número do nome da besta. Seguravam as harpas de Deus. 3Entoavam o cântico de Moisés, o servo de Deus, e o cântico do Cordeiro, dizendo: “Grandes e admiráveis são as tuas obras, Senhor Deus, todo-poderoso! Justos e verdadeiros são os teus caminhos, ó rei das nações! 4Quem não temeria, Senhor, e não glorificaria o teu nome? Só tu és santo! Todas as nações virão prostrar-se diante de ti, porque tuas justas decisões se tornaram manifestas”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the book of the Apocalypse of St. John 15,1-4 - I, John, saw in heaven another sign, great and admirable: seven angels, with the last seven plagues. With them the fury of God was going to be consummated. 2I also saw a sea of glass mixed with fire. Standing on that sea were all those who emerged victorious from the confrontation with the beast, with its image and with the number of the beast's name. Como são grandes e admiráveis vossas obras, / ó Senhor e nosso Deus onipotente!
1. Cantai ao Senhor Deus um canto novo, / porque ele fez prodígios! / Sua mão e o seu braço forte e santo / alcançaram-lhe a vitória.
2. O Senhor fez conhecer a salvação, / e às nações, sua justiça; / recordou o seu amor sempre fiel / pela casa de Israel.
3. Aplauda o mar com todo ser que nele vive, / o mundo inteiro e toda gente! / As montanhas e os rios batam palmas / e exultem de alegria.

How great and admirable are your works, / O Lord and our omnipotent God!

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 21,12-19 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 12“Antes que essas coisas aconteçam, sereis presos e perseguidos; sereis entregues às sinagogas e postos na prisão; sereis levados diante de reis e governadores por causa do meu nome. 13Essa será a ocasião em que testemunhareis a vossa fé. 14Fazei o firme propósito de não planejar com antecedência a própria defesa; 15porque eu vos darei palavras tão acertadas, que nenhum dos inimigos vos poderá resistir ou rebater. 16Sereis entregues até mesmo pelos próprios pais, irmãos, parentes e amigos. E eles matarão alguns de vós. 17Todos vos odiarão por causa do meu nome. 18Mas vós não perdereis um só fio de cabelo da vossa cabeça. 19É permanecendo firmes que ireis ganhar a vida!” – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 21,12-19 - At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 12 “Before these things happen, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be delivered to synagogues and put in prison; you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13 This will be the time when you will witness your faith. 14 Make a firm intention not to plan your defense in advance; 15for I will give you words so correct that none of your enemies will be able to resist or fight you. 16 You will be delivered even by your own parents, siblings, relatives and friends. And they will kill some of you. 17 Everyone will hate you because of my name. 18But you will not lose a hair on your head. 19It is by standing firm that you will earn a living! ” - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
O evangelista Lucas, autor também dos Atos dos Apóstolos, sabe que a perseguição contra os cristãos chegou cedo, a começar pelas autoridades judaicas: “Prenderão vocês… os levarão para as sinagogas e cadeias”. Discípulos e discípulas de Jesus sofrem as acusações dos chefes, a traição dos familiares e o ódio de todos. Estêvão é apedrejado e morto, o primeiro mártir. O apóstolo Tiago, de Jerusalém, degolado. Constantes tribulações atormentam Pedro, Paulo, Silas e outros missionários. Jesus lhes assegura assistência divina: “Eu darei a vocês palavras e sabedoria, às quais nenhum dos adversários conseguirá resistir ou rebater”. E reforça a garantia de que “nem mesmo um só cabelo da cabeça de vocês será perdido”. Importante é que permaneçam fiéis no seguimento a Jesus e a seu Reino.
To think about

Ó Mestre, apresentas, com clareza, a realidade que Teus discípulos irão vivenciar por causa do Teu nome. De um lado, inevitáveis e duras perseguições; de outro, a garantia de total assistência divina. Concede-nos, Senhor, fortaleza para resistir às adversidades e confiança em Tua incessante proteção. Amém.
To Pray
O Master, clearly present the reality that Your disciples will experience because of Your name. On the one hand, inevitable and harsh persecutions; on the other, the guarantee of total divine assistance. Grant us, Lord, strength to resist adversity and confidence in Your unceasing protection. Amen.
