Pararam a distância 13e gritaram: “Jesus, mestre, tem compaixão de nós!” 14Ao vê-los, Jesus disse: “Ide apresentar-vos aos sacerdotes”. Enquanto caminhavam, aconteceu que ficaram curados. 15Um deles, ao perceber que estava curado, voltou glorificando a Deus em alta voz; 16atirou-se aos pés de Jesus com o rosto por terra e lhe agradeceu. E este era um samaritano. 17Então Jesus lhe perguntou: “Não foram dez os curados? E os outros nove, onde estão? 18Não houve quem voltasse para dar glória a Deus, a não ser este estrangeiro?” 19E disse-lhe: “Levanta-te e vai! Tua fé te salvou”. – Palavra da salvação.

They stopped in the distance and shouted, "Jesus, master, have pity on us!" 14When Jesus saw them, he said, "Go and present yourselves to the priests." As they walked, it happened that they were healed. 15One of them, when he realized that he was healed, returned glorifying God with a loud voice; 16 he threw himself at Jesus' feet with his face to the ground and thanked him. And this was a Samaritan. 17Then Jesus asked him, “Weren't ten healed? And the other nine, where are they? 18Didn't anyone come back to give glory to God, except this foreigner? ” 19And I said to him, “Get up and go! Your faith has saved you ”. - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
Segundo o Levítico (Lv 13,45-46; 14,2), o leproso ficava impedido de participar do culto religioso e da vida social. Cruel marginalização. Por isso eles se mantêm a distância e gritam a Jesus, pedindo ajuda. Mostrar-se aos sacerdotes era exigência da Lei como confirmação da cura realizada. Jesus constata, com tristeza, a ingratidão de nove leprosos. Foram salvos da opressão que os esmagava, mas não foram capazes de reconhecer seu Salvador. Envolveram-se de tal modo com o cumprimento minucioso da Lei, que esqueceram o dever da gratidão. Somente um samaritano, representante de um grupo desprezado pelos judeus, retorna, glorifica a Deus em alta voz, dá graças a Jesus e se prostra a seus pés. Atitudes de pessoa sensível à ação de Deus em sua vida: gratidão e abertura de coração.

According to Leviticus (Lv 13,45-46; 14,2), the leper was prevented from participating in religious worship and social life. Cruel marginalization. So they keep their distance and shout to Jesus for help. Showing himself to the priests was a requirement of the Law as confirmation of the healing accomplished. Jesus sadly notes the ingratitude of nine lepers. They were saved from the crushing oppression, but were unable to recognize their Savior. They became so involved in the thorough observance of the Law that they forgot the duty of gratitude. Only a Samaritan, representative of a group despised by the Jews, returns, glorifies God with a loud voice, gives thanks to Jesus and prostrates himself at his feet. Attitudes of a person sensitive to God's action in his life: gratitude and open heart.
Para rezar
Ó Mestre Jesus, o que nos surpreende é que, dentre os dez leprosos curados, apenas um tomou o caminho de volta, “glorificando a Deus em voz alta”, para expressar-te sua profunda gratidão. Ajuda-nos, Senhor, a manifestar sincera gratidão pelos inúmeros benefícios que nos concedes a todo instante. Amém.

O Master Jesus, what surprises us is that, of the ten healed lepers, only one took the way back, “glorifying God aloud”, to express his deep gratitude to you. Help us, Lord, to express sincere gratitude for the countless benefits you grant us at all times. Amen.
