Leitura do livro do Apocalipse de São João 20,1-4.11-21,2 – Eu, João, 1vi um anjo descer do céu. Nas mãos tinha a chave do abismo e uma grande corrente. 2Ele agarrou o dragão, a antiga serpente, que é o diabo, satanás. Acorrentou-o por mil anos 3e lançou-o dentro do abismo. Depois, trancou e lacrou o abismo, para que o dragão não seduzisse mais as nações da terra, até que terminassem os mil anos. Depois dos mil anos, o dragão deve ser solto, mas por pouco tempo. 4Vi então tronos, e os seus ocupantes sentaram-se e receberam o poder de julgar. Vi também as almas daqueles que foram decapitados por causa do testemunho de Jesus e da Palavra de Deus e aqueles que não tinham adorado a besta nem a imagem dela nem tinham recebido na fronte ou na mão a marca da besta. Eles voltaram a viver, para reinarem com Cristo durante mil anos. 11Vi ainda um grande trono branco e aquele que estava sentado nele. O céu e a terra fugiram da sua presença e não se achou mais o lugar deles. 12Vi também os mortos, os grandes e os pequenos, em pé diante do trono. Foram abertos livros, e mais um outro livro ainda: o livro da vida. Então foram julgados os mortos, de acordo com sua conduta, conforme está escrito nos livros. 13O mar devolveu os mortos que se encontravam nele. A morte e a morada dos mortos entregaram de volta os seus mortos. E cada um foi julgado conforme sua conduta. 14A morte e a morada dos mortos foram então lançadas no lago de fogo. Esta é a segunda morte: o lago de fogo. 15Quem não tinha o seu nome escrito no livro da vida foi também lançado no lago de fogo. 21,1Vi então um novo céu e uma nova terra. Pois o primeiro céu e a primeira terra passaram, e o mar já não existe. 2Vi a cidade santa, a nova Jerusalém, que descia do céu, de junto de Deus, vestida qual esposa enfeitada para o seu marido. – Palavra do Senhor.

Para refletir
A parábola da figueira se refere à proximidade do Reino de Deus. É possível aplicá-la à queda de Jerusalém e ao julgamento final (parusia). É mensagem de esperança e libertação. A destruição de Jerusalém forçou a Igreja a desprender-se do judaísmo e abrir-se decididamente aos povos do mundo inteiro: “Serão minhas testemunhas… até os extremos da terra” (At 1,8). Toda evangelização é uma forma de manter esse Reino sempre presente e eficaz. Portanto, a presença efetiva do Reino de Deus e a chegada do dia do Senhor, a certeza das palavras que não passam, tudo isso exige de nós prontidão, vigilância e oração. As palavras de Jesus continuam vivas e atuais, tão poderosas e persuasivas que muitas pessoas, por sua influência, entregam a vida pelo anúncio do evangelho.
To think about
The parable of the fig tree refers to the proximity of the Kingdom of God. It is possible to apply it to the fall of Jerusalem and to the final judgment (parusia). It is a message of hope and deliverance. The destruction of Jerusalem forced the Church to detach itself from Judaism and openly decided to the peoples of the whole world: "They will be my witnesses ... to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1,8). Every evangelization is a way to keep that Kingdom always present and effective. Therefore, the effective presence of the Kingdom of God and the coming of the Lord's day, the certainty of the words that do not pass, all of this demands from us promptness, vigilance and prayer. Jesus' words remain alive and present, so powerful and persuasive that many people, by their influence, give their lives for the proclamation of the gospel.

Senhor Jesus, falas da realidade da história, que é tecida de fatos trágicos e dolorosos, mas também de acontecimentos portadores de alegria e esperança. A construção do Reino de Deus passa necessariamente por esses movimentos. O que nos importa é nunca abandonarmos Teus planos de amor. Amém.

Lord Jesus, you speak of the reality of history, which is woven of tragic and painful facts, but also of events that bring joy and hope. The construction of the Kingdom of God necessarily involves these movements. What matters is that we never abandon Your plans of love. Amen.
