To be consecrated to the Lord - Lc 2, 22-40

22 Quando
se completaram os dias para a purificação da mãe e do filho, conforme a
lei de Moisés, Maria e José levaram Jesus a Jerusalém, a fim de
apresentá-lo ao Senhor. 23 Conforme está escrito na lei do Senhor: “Todo primogênito do sexo masculino deve ser consagrado ao Senhor”. 24 Foram também oferecer o sacrifício — um par de rolas ou dois pombinhos — como está ordenado na Lei do Senhor. 25 Em
Jerusalém, havia um homem chamado Simeão, o qual era justo e piedoso, e
esperava a consolação do povo de Israel. O Espírito Santo estava com
ele 26 e lhe havia anunciado que não morreria antes de ver o Messias que vem do Senhor. 27 Movido pelo Espírito, Simeão veio ao Templo. Quando os pais trouxeram o menino Jesus para cumprir o que a Lei ordenava, 28 Simeão tomou o menino nos braços e bendisse a Deus: 29 “Agora, Senhor, conforme a tua promessa, podes deixar teu servo partir em paz; 30 porque meus olhos viram a tua salvação, 31 que preparaste diante de todos os povos: 32 luz para iluminar as nações e glória do teu povo Israel”. 33 O pai e a mãe de Jesus estavam admirados com o que diziam a respeito dele. 34 Simeão
os abençoou e disse a Maria, a mãe de Jesus: “Este menino vai ser causa
tanto de queda como de reerguimento para muitos em Israel. Ele será um
sinal de contradição. 35 Assim serão revelados os pensamentos de muitos corações. Quanto a ti, uma espada te traspassará a alma”. 36 Havia
também uma profetisa, chamada Ana, filha de Fanuel, da tribo de Aser.
Era de idade muito avançada; quando jovem, tinha sido casada e vivera
sete anos com o marido. 37 Depois
ficara viúva, e agora já estava com oitenta e quatro anos. Não saía do
Templo, dia e noite servindo a Deus com jejuns e orações. 38 Ana chegou nesse momento e pôs-se a louvar a Deus e a falar do menino a todos os que esperavam a libertação de Jerusalém. 39 Depois de cumprirem tudo, conforme a Lei do Senhor, voltaram à Galileia, para Nazaré, sua cidade. 40 O menino crescia e tornava-se forte, cheio de sabedoria; e a graça de Deus estava com ele.

22 When the days were completed for the purification of the mother and the son, as the law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem, in order to introduce you to Mr. 23 As is written in the law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord". 24 Were also offer the sacrifice — a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons — as is ordained in the law of the Lord. 25 In Jerusalem, there was a man named Simeon, which was just and merciful, and hoped the consolation of the people of Israel. The Holy Spirit was with him 26 and had announced that wouldn't die before seeing the Messiah, who comes from the Lord. 27 Moved by the spirit, Simeon came to the temple. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to fulfill what the law ordered, 28 Simeon took the boy in his arms and the God bendisse: 29 "Now, Sir, as your promise, you can let your servant depart in peace; 30 because my eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before all 31 people: 32 light to illuminate the Nations and the glory of thy people Israel ". 33 the father and the mother of Jesus were amazed at what they were saying about him. 34 Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, the mother of Jesus: "This boy will be the cause of so much fall as of rebuilding for many in Israel. It will be a sign of contradiction. 35 Thus will be revealed the thoughts of many hearts. As for you, a sword shall Pierce through you the soul ". 36 there was also a prophetess named Anna, daughter of phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. Was very advanced age; as a young man, had been married and lived seven years with her husband. 37 After had been a widow, and was now with 84 years. Out of the temple, day and night, serving God with Fastings and prayers. 38 Ana arrived at this time and stood to praise God and talking about the child to all who were waiting for the liberation of Jerusalem. 39 after complying with everything, as the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to Nazareth, his hometown. 40 the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was with him.

Hoje, celebramos a Festa da Apresentação de Jesus no Templo. Passou-se
quarenta dias do Natal, quarenta dias do nascimento de Jesus, e para se
cumprir o ritual judaico, Maria levou seu filho para ser apresentado no
templo, a fim de cumprir o ritual de purificação da mãe e da criança. Somos consagrados, pertencemos ao Senhor, somos
propriedades d’Ele! A consagração na igreja
abraça e abrange todos os batizados. O batismo fez de nós pessoas consagradas a Deus, mas nos esquecemos e
não tomamos propriedade disso. A cada dia, quando tomo consciência
disso, eu retomo a minha relação com Ele, a minha pertença ao Senhor. Quando alguém lhe perguntar: “A quem você pertence? Você é
propriedade de quem?”. Não somos coisas para ser propriedade, mas temos
Aquele a quem pertencemos, Aquele que nos criou. Somos de Deus,
pertencemos a Ele! Que a luz de Deus brilhe, porque hoje é a festa da luz, por isso levamos velas à igreja. Que a luz divina da consagração brilhe sobre nós pelos nossos atos, atitudes, em tudo aquilo que fazemos.
Reflecting
Today, we celebrate the feast of the presentation of Jesus at the temple. Freaked out 40 days of Christmas, 40 days of the birth of Jesus, and to fulfill the Jewish ritual, Maria took her son to be presented in the Temple in order to fulfill the ritual of purification of the mother and child. Are enshrined, belong to the Lord, we are his properties! The consecration in the Church embraces and encompasses all the baptised. The baptism made us people consecrated to God, but we forget and do not take ownership of it. Every day, when I'm aware of that, I come back to my relationship with him, my belonging to the Lord. When someone asks you: "who do you belong to? You is owned by whom? ". We are not things to be owned, but we got that to whom we belong, the one who created us. We are from God, we belong to him! The light of God shine, because today is the feast of light, so we carry candles to the Church. That the divine light of consecration shine upon us by our actions, attitudes, in everything we do.
