(Sl 94,8) – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 8,18-22 – Naquele tempo, 18vendo uma multidão ao seu redor, Jesus mandou passar para a outra margem do lago. 19Então um mestre da lei aproximou-se e disse: “Mestre, eu te seguirei aonde quer que tu vás”. 20Jesus lhe respondeu: “As raposas têm suas tocas e as aves dos céus têm seus ninhos; mas o Filho do homem não tem onde reclinar a cabeça”. 21Um outro dos discípulos disse a Jesus: “Senhor, permite-me que primeiro eu vá sepultar meu pai”. 22Mas Jesus lhe respondeu: “Segue-me e deixa que os mortos sepultem os seus mortos”. – Palavra da salvação.

(Ps 94.8) - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 8, 18-22 - At that time, 18 seeing a crowd around him, Jesus sent to the other side of the lake. 19Then a master of the law came over and said, "Master, I will follow you wherever you go." 20Jesus replied, “Foxes have their dens and birds of the air have their nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head. ” 21 Another of the disciples said to Jesus, "Lord, allow me to go and bury my father first." 22But Jesus replied, "Follow me and let the dead bury their dead." - Word of salvation.

Jesus é um pregador itinerante e vive na pobreza absoluta: “o Filho do Homem não tem onde repousar a cabeça”. Estaria o doutor da Lei disposto a uma mudança tão radical? Jesus o leva a refletir melhor sobre sua escolha. Outro homem, no início do seu seguimento a Jesus, pede-lhe um tempo para voltar para casa e enterrar seu pai. Embora sepultar os mortos fosse dever sagrado, Jesus supõe que a família se encarregará dessa obra de misericórdia. Ao discípulo, porém, Jesus exige decisão sem hesitações, pois quem se dispõe a seguir o Cristo tem de estar disposto a uma vida nova, a entregar-se por completo ao serviço do Reino de Deus.
Reflection
Jesus is an itinerant preacher and lives in absolute poverty: “the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head”. Was the Doctor of Law willing to make such a radical change? Jesus leads you to reflect better on your choice. Another man, at the beginning of his following Jesus, asks him for time to return home and bury his father. Although burying the dead was a sacred duty, Jesus assumes that the family will undertake this work of mercy. To the disciple, however, Jesus demands a decision without hesitation, because whoever is willing to follow Christ must be willing to live a new life, to give himself completely to the service of the Kingdom of God.
