Maria conservava no coração...
Mary kept in her heart ...

Evangelho

Gospel
Blessed is the Virgin Mary, / who kept the Word of God, / meditating on it in his heart (Lk 2,19). - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,41-51 - 41Fathers of Jesus went to Jerusalem every year for the Passover feast. 42When he turned twelve, they went up to the party, as usual. 43After the Passover days, they started their journey back, but the baby Jesus stayed in Jerusalem without his parents noticing him. 44Thinking that he was in the caravan, they walked all day. Then they started looking for him among relatives and acquaintances. 45 Not having found him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. 46Three days later, they found him in the temple. He was sitting among the masters, listening and asking questions. 47Everyone who heard the boy was amazed at his intelligence and his responses. 48When he saw him, his parents were very amazed and his mother said to him: “My son, why did you do this to us? Look, your father and I were in anguish looking for you ”. 49Jesus replied, “Why were you looking for me? Don't you know that I must be at my Father's house? ” 50They, however, did not understand the words he had spoken to them. 51Jesus then went down with his parents to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother, however, kept all these things in her heart. - Word of salvation.

Reflection
Mary's immaculate heart receives special devotion during the Middle Ages. The passage from private devotion to the public cult of the Heart of Mary is the work of São João Eudes (1601-1680). In 1942, Pope Pius XII extended this feast to the whole Church. The journey to Jerusalem is an image of the journey of faith, experienced by Mary in her heart. Parents always feed projects regarding their children's future. At the age of twelve, Jesus responsibly enters the cultural and social society of the people of the Covenant. Jesus carries out the Father's project, the project for which he was born. Jerusalem (mentioned three times) is the goal towards which Jesus walks in total obedience to the Father's will and all disciples must also walk together.
