Tu és Pedro e sobre esta pedra / eu irei construir minha Igreja; / e as portas do inferno / não irão derrotá-la (Mt 16,18). Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 16,13-19 - Naquele tempo, 13Jesus foi à região de Cesareia de Filipe e ali perguntou aos seus discípulos: “Quem dizem os homens ser o Filho do homem?” 14Eles responderam: “Alguns dizem que é João Batista; outros, que é Elias; outros, ainda, que é Jeremias ou algum dos profetas”. 15Então Jesus lhes perguntou: “E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?” 16Simão Pedro respondeu: “Tu és o Messias, o Filho do Deus vivo”. 17Respondendo, Jesus lhe disse: “Feliz és tu, Simão, filho de Jonas, porque não foi um ser humano que te revelou isso, mas o meu Pai que está no céu. 18Por isso eu te digo que tu és Pedro e sobre esta pedra construirei a minha Igreja, e o poder do inferno nunca poderá vencê-la. 19Eu te darei as chaves do reino dos céus: tudo o que tu ligares na terra será ligado nos céus; tudo o que tu desligares na terra será desligado nos céus”. – Palavra da salvação.

You are Peter and on this rock / I will build my Church; / and the gates of hell / will not defeat it (Mt 16,18). Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 16,13-19 - At that time, 13Jesus went to the region of Caesarea Philippi and asked his disciples there: “Who do men say that I am the Son of man?” 14They replied, “Some say it is John the Baptist; others, which is Elias; still others that it is Jeremiah or one of the prophets ”. 15Then Jesus asked them, "And who do you say that I am?" 16Simão Peter replied: "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God". 17In reply, Jesus said to him: “Happy are you, Simon, son of Jonah, because it was not a human being who revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 Therefore I say to you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the power of hell can never overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you disconnect on earth will be disconnected in the heavens ”. - Word of salvation.

Reflexão

Quem está em primeiro lugar nas nossas escolhas? Jesus nos desafia a optar por Ele em primeiro lugar; aquele que o escolhe é digno Dele. Ser digno do Mestre significa que Ele deve ser o primeiro na nossa escala de valores. Optar por Ele não significa diminuir o amor pelos familiares, pelo próximo,  mas indica que a escolha do amor por Ele é a opção fundamental. Amar Jesus significa acolher seu projeto de vida, sua mensagem, seu evangelho. Em outras palavras, a acolhida é a concretização das obras de misericórdia.

Reflection

Who is first in our choices? Jesus challenges us to choose Him first; whoever chooses him is worthy of him. Being worthy of the Master means that He must be first on our scale of values. Choosing Him does not mean diminishing love for family members, for others, but it does indicate that choosing love for Him is the fundamental option. Loving Jesus means welcoming your life plan, your message, your gospel. In other words, the welcome is the fulfillment of the works of mercy.

Rezando 
Vivei em nós, Jesus, pelo vosso Espírito, para que vos amemos com todo o nosso ser e amemos o próximo como a nós mesmos no vosso amor. Fazei crescer em nós esse amor para que um dia, ressuscitados, partilhemos convosco a alegria do Reino dos céus.

Praying 

Live in us, Jesus, by your Spirit, that we may love you with all our being and that we love our neighbors as ourselves in your love. Make this love grow in us so that one day, risen, we can share with you the joy of the Kingdom of Heaven.
