Salt and light.

1a.Leitura - 2 Coríntios 1,18-22

Leitura da segunda carta de são Paulo aos Coríntios – Irmãos, ¹⁸eu vos asseguro, pela fidelidade de Deus: o ensinamento que vos transmitimos não é “sim e não”. ¹⁹Pois o Filho de Deus, Jesus Cristo, que nós – a saber: eu, Silvano e Timóteo – pregamos entre vós nunca foi “sim e não”, mas somente “sim”. ²⁰Com efeito, é nele que todas as promessas de Deus têm o seu “sim” garantido. Por isso, também, é por ele que dizemos “amém” a Deus, para a sua glória. ²¹É Deus que nos confirma, a nós e a vós, em nossa adesão a Cristo, como também foi Deus que nos ungiu. ²²Foi ele que nos marcou com o seu selo e nos adiantou, como sinal, o Espírito derramado em nossos corações. – Palavra do Senhor.

Evangelho - Mateus 5,13-16

Ele não servirá para mais nada, senão para ser jogado fora e ser pisado pelos homens. ¹⁴Vós sois a luz do mundo. Não pode ficar escondida uma cidade construída sobre um monte. ¹⁵Ninguém acende uma lâmpada e a coloca debaixo de uma vasilha, mas sim num candeeiro, onde ela brilha para todos os que estão em casa. ¹⁶Assim também brilhe a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e louvem o vosso Pai que está nos céus”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Mateus 5,1-12

Refletindo o Evangelho  

Terminada a proclamação das bem-aventuranças, Jesus convida seus discípulos e a multidão a serem agentes transformadores da sociedade. O sal comunica sabor e preserva alimentos. Os cristãos devem embeber-se de vitalidade, entusiasmo, convicção e alegria em vista do Reino de Deus. Sem características como essas, a comunidade não terá vivacidade, será carente de fé, fraternidade e esperança. A luz ilumina ao seu redor. As obras de justiça e fraternidade não devem ficar escondidas; ao contrário, devem ser visíveis e acessíveis, para a glória de Deus. Cristãos e cristãs poderão conquistar multidões de pessoas pela força do testemunho: “Se virem o testemunho de comunidades autenticamente fraternas e reconciliadas, isso é sempre uma luz que atrai” (Papa Francisco).

Reflecting the Gospel

After the proclamation of the Beatitudes, Jesus invites his disciples and the crowd to be transformers agents of society. Salt preserves food flavor and communicates. Christians should soak of vitality, enthusiasm, conviction and joy in the Kingdom of God. Without features like these, the community will not have vivacity, is lacking in faith, fraternity and hope. The light illuminates when your around. The works of Justice and fraternity should not be hidden; on the contrary, must be visible and accessible, for the glory of God. Christians and Christians could conquer crowds of people by force of the testimony: "If you see the testimony of authentic fraternal communities and reconciled, that's always a light that attracts" (Pope Francis).

Senhor, voltai-vos para mim, tende piedade, como fazeis para os que amam vosso nome! Conforme a vossa lei, firmai meus passos  para que não domine em mim a iniquidade! Libertai-me da opressão e da calúnia, para que eu possa observar vossos preceitos! Fazei brilhar vosso semblante ao vosso servo e ensinai-me vossas leis e mandamentos!
