Quem me glorifica é o meu Pai - Jo 8, 51-59

Who praises me is my father - Jn 8,51-59

Texto Bíblico

Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos judeus: 51 “Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: se alguém guardar a minha palavra, jamais verá a morte”. 52 Disseram então os judeus: “Agora sabemos que tens um demônio. Abraão morreu e os profetas também, e tu dizes: ‘Se alguém guardar a minha palavra jamais verá a morte’. 53 Acaso és maior do que nosso pai Abraão, que morreu, como também os profetas? Quem pretendes ser?” 54 Jesus respondeu: “Se me glorifico a mim mesmo, minha glória não vale nada. Quem me glorifica é o meu Pai, aquele que vós dizeis ser o vosso Deus. 55 No entanto, não o conheceis. Mas eu o conheço e, se dissesse que não o conheço, seria um mentiroso, como vós! Mas eu o conheço e guardo a sua palavra. 56 Vosso pai Abraão exultou, por ver o meu dia; ele o viu, e alegrou-se”. 57 Os judeus disseram-lhe então: “Nem sequer cinquenta anos tens, e viste Abraão!” 58 Jesus respondeu: “Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, antes que Abraão existisse, eu sou”. 59 Então eles pegaram em pedras para apedrejar Jesus, mas ele escondeu-se e saiu do Templo.

Biblical Text 
At that time, Jesus said to the Jews: 51 "Verily, verily I say unto you, if someone save my Word will never see death." 52 then said the Jews: "Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and the prophets also, and you say, ' if someone save my Word will never see death. 53 are you greater than our father Abraham, who died, as well as the prophets? Who are you supposed to be? " 54 Jesus answered: "if I glorify myself, my glory is worthless. Who praises me is my father, the one that you say your God. 55 however, don't you know. But I know, if I said I didn't know, I would be a liar like you! But I know him and keep your Word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; He saw it and rejoiced ". 57 the Jews they said then: "not even 50 years you have, and have you seen Abraham!" 58 Jesus replied: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am." 59 So they took up stones to stone Jesus, but he hid and came out of the temple.

Refletindo

Alguns judeus, na narração do Evangelho de hoje, estão indignados, porque Jesus diz que aquele que permanecer n’Ele terá vida. Eles querem até apedrejar Jesus, querem levá-Lo à morte por causa de Suas palavras. As palavras de Jesus provocam bênçãos para aqueles que a acolhem e perturbação e ira para quem as rejeita. Não precisamos ir muito longe, porque, muitas vezes, queremos ser provocados pela Palavra de Deus. Quando ela vem contradizer nosso comportamento, nossa maneira de pensar, agir e falar algo, também rangemos por dentro, arrumamos desculpas ou oposição a essa Palavra. É preciso abrir o coração para, docilmente, acolhermos e sermos conduzidos por essa Palavra! Mas, atenção, não acolha a Palavra apenas na conveniência, naquilo que lhe convém e com o que está de acordo, que não o incomoda. Deixemo-se ser incomodado pela Palavra de Deus, porque ela tem a missão de transformar sua vida!

Some Jews, in the narration of the Gospel of today, are indignant because Jesus says that to stay in him you will have life. They want to stone Jesus, want to take him to death because of his words. The words of Jesus lead to blessings for those who welcome and disruption and anger for those who rejects. We don't have to go very far, because often we want to be triggered by the word of God. When it comes to contradict our behavior, our way of thinking, acting and talking about something, also rangemos on the inside, packed up excuses or opposed to that Word. You need to open the heart to, welcome and be meekly driven by that Word. But don't take the word only in convenience, in what suits you and what you agree, that doesn't bother you. Let yourself be bothered by the word of God, because she has the Mission of transforming your life!
