Reflexão

À medida que se aproxima a paixão e morte de Jesus, seus adversários parecem mais furiosos. Com pedra nas mãos, anseiam por acabar com ele, como se fosse um malfeitor extremamente perigoso. Jesus, no entanto, de modo sereno e soberano, segue explicando que o Pai o santificou e enviou ao mundo. Ele realiza as obras que o Pai lhe mandou fazer. Que acreditem ao menos nessas obras e compreenderão a íntima união entre ele e o Pai. Terreno impenetrável é o coração dos dirigentes, que mais uma vez tentam prender Jesus. Afastando-se de Jerusalém, ele volta ao lugar onde iniciou a missão, exatamente onde João costumava batizar. E aí, ao contrário das autoridades, o povo acolhe Jesus e se dispõe a fazer parte do seu rebanho.

Reflection 

As Jesus ' passion and death approaches, his opponents seem more furious. With Stone in their hands, they yearn to end it, as if it were an extremely dangerous malefactor. Jesus, however, in a serene and sovereign way, continues to explain that the Father sancted him and sent him to the world. He carries out the works that the Father told him to do. That they believe at least in these works and will understand the intimate union between him and the Father. Impenetrable Terrain is the heart of the leaders, who once again try to arrest Jesus. Moving Away from Jerusalem, he returns to the place where he began the mission, exactly where John used to baptize. And then, unlike the authorities, the people welcome Jesus and are willing to be part of their flock.

Leitura do livro do profeta Jeremias 20,10-13 – 10Eu ouvi as injúrias de tantos homens e os vi espalhando o medo em redor: “Denunciai-o, denunciemo-lo”. Todos os amigos observavam minhas falhas: “Talvez ele cometa um engano, e nós poderemos apanhá-lo e desforrar-nos dele”. 11Mas o Senhor está ao meu lado como forte guerreiro; por isso, os que me perseguem cairão vencidos. Por não terem tido êxito, eles se cobrirão de vergonha. Eterna infâmia, que nunca se apaga! 12Ó Senhor dos exércitos, que provas o homem justo e vês os sentimentos do coração, rogo-te me faças ver tua vingança sobre eles; pois eu te declarei a minha causa. 13Cantai ao Senhor, louvai o Senhor, pois ele salvou a vida de um pobre homem das mãos dos maus. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 10,31-42 – Naquele tempo, 31os judeus pegaram pedras para apedrejar Jesus. 32E ele lhes disse: “Por ordem do Pai, mostrei-vos muitas obras boas. Por qual delas me quereis apedrejar?” 33Os judeus responderam: “Não queremos te apedrejar por causa das obras boas, mas por causa de blasfêmia, porque, sendo apenas um homem, tu te fazes Deus!” 34Jesus disse: “Acaso não está escrito na vossa lei: ‘Eu disse: vós sois deuses’? 35Ora, ninguém pode anular a Escritura: se a lei chama deuses as pessoas às quais se dirigiu a palavra de Deus, 36por que então me acusais de blasfêmia quando eu digo que sou Filho de Deus, eu, a quem o Pai consagrou e enviou ao mundo? 37Se não faço as obras do meu Pai, não acrediteis em mim. 38Mas, se eu as faço, mesmo que não queirais acreditar em mim, acreditai nas minhas obras, para que saibais e reconheçais que o Pai está em mim e eu no Pai”. 39Outra vez procuravam prender Jesus, mas ele escapou das mãos deles. 40Jesus passou para o outro lado do Jordão e foi para o lugar onde, antes, João tinha batizado. E permaneceu ali. 41Muitos foram ter com ele e diziam: “João não realizou nenhum sinal, mas tudo o que ele disse a respeito deste homem é verdade”. 42E muitos, ali, acreditaram nele. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

Glory to Christ, eternal Word of the Father, that is love! Lord, your words are spirit, they are life; /Only You have words of eternal life! (Jn 6, 63.68). Ao Senhor eu invoquei na minha angústia, / e ele escutou a minha voz. Eu vos amo, ó Senhor! Sois minha força, / minha rocha, meu refúgio e salvador!
