Ele é o Messias.

He is the Messiah.

Reflexão

As discussões em torno da pessoa de Jesus se intensificam. As opiniões são as mais diversificadas. Uns o consideram como um dos profetas. Outros dizem que ele é o Cristo. Discutem e discordam sobre a origem do Messias. Os guardas se encantam com sua pregação: “Jamais alguém falou como este homem”. Nicodemos, que havia conversado pessoalmente com Jesus, tenta protegê-lo com base na Lei. As autoridades religiosas se vangloriam de não acreditarem em Jesus e olham com desprezo para os que admiram um profeta vindo de lugar tão humilde, a Galileia. Jesus estava tão perto deles fisicamente! Poderiam ouvi-lo, tocá-lo, beber de suas palavras de vida. Ao invés, desperdiçam a ocasião, permanecendo fechados à influência do Mestre. Voltam para suas casas, desorientados e com o coração inquieto.

Reflection 

The discussions surrounding the person of Jesus intensify. Opinions are the most diversified. Some regard him as one of the prophets. Others say he is the Christ. They Argue and disagree about the origin of the Messiah. The Guards are delighted by their preaching: "Never has anyone spoken like this man." Nicodemus, who had spoken to Jesus in person, tries to protect him based on the Law. Religious authorities boast that they do not believe in Jesus and look with contempt for those who admire a prophet from such a humble place, to Galilee. Jesus was so close to them physically! They Could hear you, touch you, drink your words of life. Instead, they waste the occasion, remaining closed to the Master's influence. They Return to their homes, disoriented and with their hearts restless.

Leitura do livro do profeta Jeremias 11,18-20 – 18Senhor, avisaste-me e eu entendi; fizeste-me saber as intrigas deles. 19Eu era como manso cordeiro levado ao sacrifício e não sabia que tramavam contra mim: “Vamos cortar a árvore em toda a sua força, eliminá-lo do mundo dos vivos, para seu nome não ser mais lembrado”. 20E tu, Senhor dos exércitos, que julgas com justiça e perscrutas os afetos do coração, concede que eu veja a vingança que tomarás contra eles, pois eu te confiei a minha causa. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah 11,18-20 – 18 Lord, you warned me and I understood; You made me know their intrigues. 19I was as meek Lamb led to sacrifice and did not know that they were plotting against me: "Let US cut the tree in all its strength, eliminate it from the world of the living, for its name no longer remembered." 20And you, Lord of the armies, who judge with righteousness and peer the affections of the heart, grant that I see the vengeance that thou shalt take against them, for I have entrusted you with my cause. – Word of the Lord.

(Lc 8,15) – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 7,40-53 – Naquele tempo, 40ao ouvirem as palavras de Jesus, algumas pessoas da multidão diziam: “Este é, verdadeiramente, o profeta”. 41Outros diziam: “Ele é o Messias”. Mas alguns objetavam: “Porventura o Messias virá da Galileia? 42Não diz a Escritura que o Messias será da descendência de Davi e virá de Belém, povoado de onde era Davi?” 43Assim, houve divisão no meio do povo por causa de Jesus. 44Alguns queriam prendê-lo, mas ninguém pôs as mãos nele. 45Então, os guardas do templo voltaram para os sumos sacerdotes e os fariseus, e estes lhes perguntaram: “Por que não o trouxestes?” 46Os guardas responderam: “Ninguém jamais falou como este homem”. 47Então, os fariseus disseram-lhes: “Também vós vos deixastes enganar? 48Por acaso algum dos chefes ou dos fariseus acreditou nele? 49Mas essa gente que não conhece a lei é maldita!” 50Nicodemos, porém, um dos fariseus, aquele que se tinha encontrado com Jesus anteriormente, disse: 51“Será que a nossa lei julga alguém antes de o ouvir e saber o que ele fez?” 52Eles responderam: “Também tu és galileu, porventura? Vai estudar e verás que da Galileia não surge profeta”. 53E cada um voltou para sua casa. – Palavra da salvação.

Salmo 7

Senhor meu Deus, em vós procuro o meu refúgio: / vinde salvar-me do inimigo, libertai-me! / Não aconteça que agarrem minha vida, † como um leão que despedaça a sua presa, / sem que ninguém venha salvar-me e libertar-me! Julgai-me, Senhor Deus, como eu mereço / e segundo a inocência que há em mim! / Ponde um fim à iniquidade dos perversos † e confirmai o vosso justo, ó Deus-justiça, / vós que sondais os nossos rins e corações. O Deus vivo é um escudo protetor / e salva aqueles que têm reto coração. / Deus é juiz, e ele julga com justiça, / mas é um Deus que ameaça cada dia.

Psalm 7

Lord my God, in you I seek my refuge:/Come to save me from the enemy, release me! /Do Not happen to hold my life, † as a lion that shatches its prey,/no one come to save me and free me! Judge me, Lord God, as I deserve/And according to the Innocence in me! /Put an end to the iniquity of the wicked † and confirm your righteous, O God-Justice,/You who dream of our kidneys and hearts. – The Living God is a protective shield/and saves those who have a righteous heart. /God is judge, and he judges with righteousness,/But he is a God who threatens each day.
