Naquele tempo, 1 ao passar, Jesus viu um homem cego de nascença. 6 E cuspiu no chão, fez lama com a saliva e colocou-a sobre os olhos do cego. 7 E disse-lhe: “Vai lavar-te na piscina de Siloé” (que quer dizer: Enviado). O cego foi, lavou-se e voltou enxergando. 8 Os vizinhos e os que costumavam ver o cego — pois ele era mendigo — diziam: “Não é aquele que ficava pedindo esmola?” 9 Uns diziam: “Sim, é ele!” Outros afirmavam: “Não é ele, mas alguém parecido com ele”. Ele, porém, dizia: “Sou eu mesmo!” 13 Levaram então aos fariseus o homem que tinha sido cego. 14 Ora, era sábado, o dia em que Jesus tinha feito lama e aberto os olhos do cego. 15 Novamente, então, lhe perguntaram os fariseus como tinha recuperado a vista. Respondeu-lhes: “Colocou lama sobre os meus olhos, fui lavar-me e agora vejo!” 16 Disseram, então, alguns dos fariseus: “Esse homem não vem de Deus, pois não guarda o sábado”. Mas outros diziam: “Como pode um pecador fazer tais sinais?” 17 E havia divergência entre eles. Perguntaram outra vez ao cego: “E tu, que dizes daquele que te abriu os olhos?” Respondeu: “É um profeta”. 34 Os fariseus disseram-lhe: “Tu nasceste todo em pecado e estás nos ensinando?” E expulsaram-no da comunidade. 35 Jesus soube que o tinham expulsado. Encontrando-o, perguntou-lhe: “Acreditas no Filho do Homem?” 36 Respondeu ele: “Quem é, Senhor, para que eu creia nele?” 37 Jesus disse: “Tu o estás vendo; é aquele que está falando contigo”. Exclamou ele: 38 “Eu creio, Senhor!” E prostrou-se diante de Jesus.

Biblical Text 
At that time, 1 when passing, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. 6 and spat on the ground, made mud with saliva and put it on the eyes of the blind. 7 and he said to him: "Go and wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means: Sent). The blind man was washed up and came back seeing. 8 the neighbors and those who used to see the blind — for he was beggar — said: "it's not the one who was asking for alms?" 9 some said: "Yes, that's him!" Others claimed: "it's not him, but someone like him". He, however, said: "I am!" 13 Led to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now, was Saturday, the day that Jesus had made mud and opened the eyes of the blind. 15 Again, then asked the Pharisees as had recovered his sight. Answered them: "Put mud over my eyes, I was washing myself and now I see!" 16 Said, then some of the Pharisees: "this man is not from God, because you don't keep the Sabbath". But others said, "How can a sinner do such signs?" 17 and there was disagreement among them. Asked again to blind: "and you, what do you say that you opened your eyes?" Replied: "he is a prophet." 34 the Pharisees said to him: "you were born in sin and are you teaching us?" And they kicked him out of the community. 35 Jesus heard that they had driven out. Finding it, asked him: "do you believe in the son of man?" 36 he replied: "who is it, Lord, that I may believe in him?" 37 Jesus said: "You're seeing; is one that is talking to you ". He exclaimed: 38 "I believe, Lord." And bowed before Jesus.

Refletindo

Às vezes, encontramos crianças que nascem com alguma má formação, uma deformação genética, algum problema, e a mãe logo pergunta: “O que eu fiz de errado?”. Mamãe, papai, vocês não fizeram nada de errado! Houve algum problema na ordem natural, mas a ordem sobrenatural vai transformar aquilo que parecia uma tragédia, um mal, numa bênção divina! Essas crianças que têm alguma deficiência tornam-se verdadeiras referências da bênção, da presença e do amor de Deus na vida dessas mães, dessas famílias! Elas apontam para nós, a começar por mim, a manifestação do Reino de Deus. Por isso, até mesmo para algo que parece trágico, precisamos olhar como o lugar onde a graça de Deus pode se manifestar, porque todas as coisas concorrem para o bem daqueles que esperam em Deus. Por esse motivo, Jesus, hoje, olha para esse cego e mostra-o como um referencial para nós. Duas coisas: primeiro, Deus quer abrir os nossos olhos, porque este sim é o grande mal, a grande cegueira. Vivemos de forma iludida, de forma errada, enxergando a vida de forma distorcida, não como de fato ela é, como precisa e deve ser enxergada. Precisamos permitir que Deus cure e restaure o nosso olhar, para que tenhamos a Sua visão em nós! Jesus diz algo a esse cego depois que ele está curado: “Não volte a pecar, para que não te aconteça coisa pior”. Não há coisa pior do que o pecado em nós, não há coisa pior do que o estrago que o pecado faz na vida de cada um de nós. Que a misericórdia de Deus, hoje, lave os nossos olhos e nos ajude a ver o mundo, a nós mesmos e as pessoas com o olhar divino!

Reflecting

Sometimes we find children who are born with some malformation, a genetic deformity, a problem, and the mother immediately asks, "what did I do wrong?". Mom, Dad, you didn't do anything wrong! There was some problem in the natural order, but the supernatural order will turn what looked like a tragedy, an evil, in a divine blessing. These children who have some disability become real references of blessing, the presence and love of God in the life of those mothers, those families! They point to us, starting with me, the manifestation of the Kingdom of God. So, even for something that seems so tragic, we need to look at as the place where the grace of God can manifest, because all things are competing for the sake of those who hope in God. For this reason, Jesus, today, look at that blind and shows it as a benchmark for us. Two things: first, God wants to open our eyes, because this is the great evil, the great blindness. We live so deluded, the wrong way, seeing the life of twisted form, not as a matter of fact she is, how accurate and should be first seen. We need to allow God to heal and restore our gaze, to have your view on us! Jesus says something blind after he is healed: "don't come back to sin, lest something worse happen to you". There's nothing worse than the sin in us, there's nothing worse than the mess that sin makes in the life of each of us. May the mercy of God, today, wash our eyes and help us see the world, ourselves and the people with the look divine!
