Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 19,31-37 – 31Era o dia da preparação para a Páscoa. Os judeus queriam evitar que os corpos ficassem na cruz durante o sábado, porque aquele sábado era dia de festa solene. Então pediram a Pilatos que mandasse quebrar as pernas aos crucificados e os tirasse da cruz. 32Os soldados foram e quebraram as pernas de um e depois do outro que foram crucificados com Jesus. 33Ao se aproximarem de Jesus, e vendo que já estava morto, não lhe quebraram as pernas; 34mas um soldado abriu-lhe o lado com uma lança, e logo saiu sangue e água. 35Aquele que viu dá testemunho, e seu testemunho é verdadeiro; e ele sabe que fala a verdade, para que vós também acrediteis. 36Isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse a Escritura, que diz: “Não quebrarão nenhum dos seus ossos”. 37E outra Escritura ainda diz: “Olharão para aquele que transpassaram”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 19,31-37 – 31It was the day of preparation for Easter. The Jews wanted to prevent bodies from being left on the cross during the Sabbath, because that Sabbath was a day of solemn feast. Then they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified ones broken and to take them off the cross. 32The soldiers went and broke the legs of one and then the other who were crucified with Jesus. 33When they approached Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs; 34But a soldier pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35He who has seen bears witness, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he speaks the truth, so that you too may believe. 36This happened to fulfill the Scripture, which says, "They shall not break any of their bones." 37And yet another Scripture says, "They shall look upon him whom they pierced." – Word of salvation.

Ó Jesus, manso e humilde de coração, dá-nos um coração semelhante ao Teu, capaz de semear bondade e misericórdia em todo lugar e sempre. Amém.

Jesus, meek and humble of heart, give us a heart like Yours, capable of sowing goodness and mercy everywhere and always. Amen.
