Jesus aproveita as circunstância para esclarecer a natureza de sua nova família. Nesse episódio, serve-se da chegada de sua mãe e dos parentes. Sua mãe deve ter-se lembrado daquela expressão um tanto misteriosa que ouvira do filho com doze anos: “Não sabiam que eu devo estar ocupado com as coisas do meu Pai?”. Nada, porém, indica que Jesus tenha esboçado alguma indiferença ou repulsa em relação aos familiares recém-chegados. Apenas deixa claro que daí em diante seus familiares, seus íntimos, são os que fazem a vontade do Pai. Fica estabelecido o critério para sabermos qual é o grau de nossa familiaridade com Jesus: nossa adesão incondicional a ele e ao Pai.

Jesus takes advantage of the circumstance to clarify the nature of his new family. In this episode, the arrival of his mother and relatives is served. Your mother must have remembered that somewhat mysterious expression that she heard from her 12-year-old son, "didn't you know I must be busy with my father's things?" Nothing, however, indicates that Jesus has sketched some indifference or repulses in relation to the newly arrived relatives. It only makes clear that from then on, their relatives, their intimates, are those who do the will of the father. The criterion is established to know the degree of our familiarity with Jesus: our unconditional adherence to him and to the father.

Leitura do livro do Êxodo 14,21-15,1 – Naqueles dias, 21Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar e, durante toda a noite, o Senhor fez soprar sobre o mar um vento leste muito forte; e as águas se dividiram. 22Então, os filhos de Israel entraram pelo meio do mar a pé enxuto, enquanto as águas formavam como que uma muralha à direita e à esquerda. 23Os egípcios puseram-se a persegui-los, e todos os cavalos do faraó, carros e cavaleiros os seguiram mar adentro. 24Ora, de madrugada, o Senhor lançou um olhar, desde a coluna de fogo e da nuvem, sobre as tropas egípcias e as pôs em pânico. 25Bloqueou as rodas dos seus carros, de modo que só a muito custo podiam avançar. Disseram, então, os egípcios: “Fujamos de Israel! Pois o Senhor combate a favor deles, contra nós”. 26O Senhor disse a Moisés: “Estende a mão sobre o mar, para que as águas se voltem contra os egípcios, seus carros e cavaleiros”. 27Moisés estendeu a mão sobre o mar e, ao romper da manhã, o mar voltou ao seu leito normal, enquanto os egípcios, em fuga, corriam ao encontro das águas, e o Senhor os mergulhou no meio das ondas. 28As águas voltaram e cobriram carros, cavaleiros e todo o exército do faraó que tinha entrado no mar em perseguição de Israel. Não escapou um só. 29Os filhos de Israel, ao contrário, tinham passado a pé enxuto pelo meio do mar, cujas águas lhes formavam uma muralha à direita e à esquerda. 30Naquele dia, o Senhor livrou Israel da mão dos egípcios, e Israel viu os egípcios mortos nas praias do mar 31e a mão poderosa do Senhor agir contra eles. Reading of the Book of Exodus 14,21-15.1 – In those days, 21Moses reached out on the sea and, throughout the night, the Lord made blowing over the sea a very strong East wind; And the waters were divided. 22 Then The children of Israel entered the middle of the sea on a lean footing, while the waters formed like a wall on the right and left. 23The Egyptians set out to pursue them, and all the Pharaoh's horses, chariots and Knights followed them inland. 24Now, at dawn, the Lord cast a Glance, from the Pillar of Fire and the cloud, on the Egyptian troops and panicked them. 25Blocked the wheels of their cars, so that only at a very cost they could advance. Then the Egyptians said: "We fled from Israel! For the Lord fights in their favor against us.
