Para a missão, Jesus dá instruções não só a seus apóstolos, mas a todos os cristãos e cristãs. O panorama é bastante sombrio, mostra que a chegada do Reino de Deus provoca mudanças pois são muitos os que não querem abrir mão de privilégios. Batem de frente contra os seguidores de Jesus que propõem solidariedade, partilha e vida fraterna. Dentre as duas maneiras de pensar e agir nascem as perseguições e tribulações de toda espécie. Uma coisa é certa: Jesus continua presente e atuante na vida dos cristãos, dando-lhes o Espírito Santo, que garante a palavra justa no momento certo. E aos que se mantiverem fiéis a Deus, está reservada a salvação.

Leitura do livro do Gênesis 46,1-7.28-30 – Naqueles dias, 1Israel partiu com tudo o que tinha. Ao chegar a Bersabeia, ofereceu sacrifícios ao Deus de seu pai, Isaac. 2Deus falou a Israel em visão noturna, dizendo-lhe: “Jacó! Jacó!” Ele respondeu: “Aqui estou!” 3E Deus lhe falou: “Eu sou Deus, o Deus de teu pai: não tenhas medo de descer ao Egito, pois lá farei de ti uma grande nação. 4Eu mesmo descerei contigo ao Egito e te reconduzirei de lá quando voltares; e é José que te fechará os olhos”. 5Jacó levantou-se e deixou Bersabeia, e seus filhos o puseram, com as crianças e as mulheres, sobre os carros que o faraó enviara para os transportar. 6Levaram, também, tudo o que possuíam na terra de Canaã; e foram para o Egito Jacó com toda a sua família, 7com seus filhos e netos, suas filhas e toda a sua descendência. 28Jacó enviou Judá na frente para avisar José e fazê-lo vir ao seu encontro em Gessen. E chegaram à terra de Gessen. 29José mandou atrelar seu carro e subiu a Gessen ao encontro do pai.
