O Espírito Santo vos conduzirá à plena verdade.

The Holy Spirit will lead you to the full truth.

Tristes com a notícia da partida de Jesus, os apóstolos não conseguem assimilar as “muitas coisas” que Jesus ainda tem para lhes comunicar. Jesus entretanto, lhes assegura que o Espírito da Verdade irá esclarecendo, conforme as circunstâncias e necessidades, o que está para acontecer. O Espírito transmitirá o que recebe de Jesus e do Pai: “Todas as coisas que o Pai tem são minhas”. O Espírito Santo glorificará Jesus, isto é, demonstrará que tudo o que Jesus ensinou e praticou são obras de Deus e que ele, Jesus, superada a humilhação da cruz, está junto do Pai. O Espírito Santo continua o projeto de Jesus na vida da Igreja e em nossa vida pessoal.

Sad with the news of the departure of Jesus, the Apostles cannot assimilate the "many things" that Jesus still has to communicate with them. Jesus, however, assures them that the spirit of truth will clarify, according to circumstances and needs, what is about to happen. The spirit will transmit what he receives from Jesus and the father: "All the things that the father has are mine." The Holy Spirit will glorify Jesus, that is, he will show that all that Jesus taught and practiced are works of God and that he, Jesus, overcome the humiliation of the cross, is with the father. The Holy Spirit continues the project of Jesus in the life of the church and in our personal life.

Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 17,15.22-18,1 – Naqueles dias, 15os que conduziram Paulo levaram-no até Atenas. De lá, voltando, transmitiram a Silas e Timóteo a ordem de que fossem ter com ele o mais cedo possível. E partiram. 22De pé, no meio do Areópago, Paulo disse: “Homens atenienses, em tudo eu vejo que vós sois extremamente religiosos. 23Com efeito, passando e observando os vossos lugares de culto, encontrei também um altar com esta inscrição: ‘Ao Deus desconhecido’. Pois bem, esse Deus que vós adorais sem conhecer é exatamente aquele que eu vos anuncio. 24O Deus que fez o mundo e tudo o que nele existe; sendo Senhor do céu e da terra, ele não habita em santuários feitos por mãos humanas. 25Também não é servido por mãos humanas, como se precisasse de alguma coisa; pois é ele que dá a todos vida, respiração e tudo o mais. 26De um só homem ele fez toda a raça humana para habitar sobre toda a face da terra, tendo fixado os tempos previamente estabelecidos e os limites de sua habitação. 27Assim fez, para que buscassem a Deus e para ver se o descobririam, ainda que às apalpadelas. Ele não está longe de cada um de nós, 28pois nele vivemos, nos movemos e existimos, como disseram alguns dentre vossos poetas: ‘Somos da raça do próprio Deus’. 29Sendo, portanto, da raça de Deus, não devemos pensar que a divindade seja semelhante a ouro, prata ou pedra, trabalhados pela arte e imaginação do homem. 30Mas Deus, sem levar em conta os tempos da ignorância, agora anuncia aos homens que todos e em todo lugar se arrependam, 31pois ele estabeleceu um dia em que irá julgar o mundo com justiça por meio do homem que designou diante de todos, oferecendo uma garantia, ao ressuscitá-lo dos mortos”. 32Quando ouviram falar da ressurreição dos mortos, alguns caçoavam e outros diziam: “Nós te ouviremos falar disso em outra ocasião”. 33Assim Paulo saiu do meio deles. 34Alguns, porém, uniram-se a ele e abraçaram a fé. Entre eles estava também Dionísio, o areopagita, uma mulher chamada Dâmaris e outros com eles. 18,1Paulo deixou Atenas e foi para Corinto. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 17, 15.22-18, 1 – In those days, 15 who led Paul took him to Athens. From there, returning, they transmitted to Silas and Timothy the order that they would go to him as soon as possible. Evangelho

Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. Rogarei ao meu Pai, e ele há de enviar-vos um outro paráclito, que há de permanecer eternamente convosco (Jo 14,16). – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 16,12-15 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 12“Tenho ainda muitas coisas a dizer-vos, mas não sois capazes de as compreender agora. 13Quando, porém, vier o Espírito da verdade, ele vos conduzirá à plena verdade. Pois ele não falará por si mesmo, mas dirá tudo o que tiver ouvido; e até as coisas futuras vos anunciará. 14Ele me glorificará, porque receberá do que é meu e vo-lo anunciará. 15Tudo o que o Pai possui é meu. Por isso disse que o que ele receberá e vos anunciará é meu”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
