The chief of this world is already doomed.
Perseguições e o retorno de Jesus ao Pai, deixam os apóstolos tristes. Mas Jesus os conforta garantindo-lhes que, após sua glorificação, enviará para eles o Espírito Santo que é Aquele que nos sustenta, o Paráclito. A palavra paráclito significa “aquilo que está ao meu lado para me apoiar”, para que eu não caia, para que eu vá adiante, para que eu conserve essa juventude do Espírito. O cristão é sempre jovem: sempre. Quando o coração do cristão começa a envelhecer, a sua vocação de cristão começa a diminuir. A glorificação de Jesus prova que ele foi vítima inocente. A condenação do mundo é decretada na morte e ressurreição de Jesus e continuará acontecendo na vida dos fiéis, pela ação do Espírito Santo ao longo da história.

Persecutions and the return of Jesus to the father, leave the Apostles sad. But Jesus comforts them by assuring them that, after their glorification, they will send to them the Holy Spirit who is the one who sustains us, the Paraclete. The word paraclete means "what is beside me to support me," so that I will not fall, that I will go forth, that I will retain this youth of the spirit. The Christian is always young: always. When the heart of the Christian begins to grow old, his vocation as a Christian begins to diminish. The glorification of Jesus proves that he was an innocent victim. The condemnation of the world is decreed in the death and resurrection of Jesus and will continue to happen in the lives of the faithful, by the action of the Holy Spirit throughout history.

Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 16,22-34 – Naqueles dias, 22a multidão dos filipenses levantou-se contra Paulo e Silas; e os magistrados, depois de lhes rasgarem as vestes, mandaram açoitar os dois com varas. 23Depois de açoitá-los bastante, lançaram-nos na prisão, ordenando ao carcereiro que os guardasse com toda a segurança. 24Ao receber essa ordem, o carcereiro levou-os para o fundo da prisão e prendeu os pés deles no tronco. 25À meia-noite, Paulo e Silas estavam rezando e cantando hinos a Deus. Os outros prisioneiros os escutavam. 26De repente, houve um terremoto tão violento, que sacudiu os alicerces da prisão. Todas as portas se abriram, e as correntes de todos se soltaram. 27O carcereiro acordou e viu as portas da prisão abertas. Pensando que os prisioneiros tivessem fugido, puxou da espada e estava para suicidar-se. 28Mas Paulo gritou com voz forte: “Não te faças mal algum! Nós estamos todos aqui”. 29Então o carcereiro pediu tochas, correu para dentro e, tremendo, caiu aos pés de Paulo e Silas. 30Conduzindo-os para fora, perguntou: “Senhores, que devo fazer para ser salvo?” 31Paulo e Silas responderam: “Crê no Senhor Jesus e sereis salvos tu e todos os de tua família”. 32Então Paulo e Silas anunciaram a Palavra do Senhor ao carcereiro e a todos os da sua família. 33Na mesma hora da noite, o carcereiro levou-os consigo para lavar as feridas causadas pelos açoites. E, imediatamente, foi batizado junto com todos os seus familiares. 34Depois fez Paulo e Silas subirem até sua casa, preparou-lhes um jantar e alegrou-se com todos os seus familiares por ter acreditado em Deus. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 16,22-34 – In those days, the 22nd multitude of the Philippians rose against Paul and Silas; And the magistrates, after tearing their garments, had them scouring the two with sticks. 23 After flogging them enough, they threw us into prison, ordering the jailer to guard them with all security. 24Upon receiving that order, the jailer took them to the bottom of the prison and fastened their feet on the trunk. 25Midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God. The other prisoners listened to them. 26 Suddenly, there was an earthquake so violent, it shook the foundations of the prison. All the doors opened, and the chains of all were released. 27Th jailer woke Up and saw the doors of the prison open. Thinking the prisoners had fled, pulled the sword and was about to commit suicide. 28But Paul shouted loudly: "Do not do any harm! We're all here. " 29Then the jailer asked for torches, ran inward and, trembling, fell at the feet of Paul and Silas. 30Leading them out, asked: "Gentlemen, what shall I do to be saved?" 31Paul and Silas replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and all of your family will be saved." 32Then Paul and Silas announced the word of the Lord to the jailer and all of his family. 33At the same time of night, the jailer took them with him to wash the wounds caused by the scouring.
