O servo não está acima do seu senhor.

The servant is not above his master.

Jesus nos ensina que na sua comunidade, não há lugar para autoritarismo, prepotências e vaidades . Ele é o mestre e os discípulos não podem ser mais que ele, nem pretender outro caminho diferente do que ele seguiu. Ao lavar os pés dos apóstolos, Jesus deixou uma lição clara: é maior quem serve a todos. O próprio Jesus afirmou, em outra ocasião: “O Filho do Homem não veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar a própria vida em resgate por muitos” (Mc 10,45). O caminho que Jesus traçou para nós é o da fraternidade e do serviço. Jesus faz dos apóstolos os mensageiros do Altíssimo. Quem os acolher, estará acolhendo Cristo e o Pai.

Jesus teaches us that in his community there is no place for authoritarianism, prepowers and vanities. He is the master and the disciples cannot be more than him, nor want another path different from what he followed. By washing the feet of the apostles, Jesus left a clear lesson: it is greater who serves everyone. Jesus himself said, on another occasion: "The son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life in ransom for many" (Mk 10.45). The path that Jesus has traced to us is that of fraternity and service. Jesus makes the apostles the messengers of the most high. Whoever welcomes them will be welcoming Christ and the father.

Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 13,13-25 – 13Paulo e seus companheiros embarcaram em Pafos e chegaram a Perge da Panfília. João deixou-os e voltou para Jerusalém. 14Eles, porém, partindo de Perge, chegaram a Antioquia da Pisídia. E, entrando na sinagoga em dia de sábado, sentaram-se. 15Depois da leitura da lei e dos profetas, os chefes da sinagoga mandaram dizer-lhes: “Irmãos, se vós tendes alguma palavra para encorajar o povo, podeis falar”. 16Paulo levantou-se, fez um sinal com a mão e disse: “Israelitas e vós que temeis a Deus, escutai! 17O Deus deste povo de Israel escolheu os nossos antepassados e fez deles um grande povo quando moravam como estrangeiros no Egito; e de lá os tirou com braço poderoso. 18E, durante mais ou menos quarenta anos, cercou-os de cuidados no deserto. 19Destruiu sete nações na terra de Canaã e passou para eles a posse do seu território 20por quatrocentos e cinquenta anos aproximadamente. Depois disso, concedeu-lhes juízes, até o profeta Samuel. 21Em seguida, eles pediram um rei, e Deus concedeu-lhes Saul, filho de Cis, da tribo de Benjamim, que reinou durante quarenta anos. 22Em seguida, Deus fez surgir Davi como rei e assim testemunhou a seu respeito: ‘Encontrei Davi, filho de Jessé, homem segundo o meu coração, que vai fazer em tudo a minha vontade’. 23Conforme prometera, da descendência de Davi Deus fez surgir para Israel um salvador, que é Jesus. 24Antes que ele chegasse, João pregou um batismo de conversão para todo o povo de Israel. 25Estando para terminar sua missão, João declarou: ‘Eu não sou aquele que pensais que eu seja! Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 13,13-25 – 13Paul and his companions embarked on Paphos and came to Perge of Panfília. John left them and returned to Jerusalem. 14They, however, departing from Perge, came to Antioch from Pisídia. And, entering the synagogue on a Sabbath day, they sat down. 15 After The reading of the law and the prophets, the chiefs of the synagogue told them: "Brethren, if you have any word to encourage the people, you may speak." 16Paul stood up, made a sign with his hand and said: "Israelites and ye who fear God, hear! 17The God of this people of Israel chose our ancestors and made them a great people when they lived as foreigners in Egypt; And from there he took them with a powerful arm. 18E, for more or less 40 years, surrounded them with care in the wilderness. 19Destroyed Seven nations in the land of Canaan and passed on to them the possession of its territory 20 for 450 years approximately. After that, he gave them judges, even the Prophet Samuel. 21 then they asked a king, and God granted them Saul, son of Cis, of the tribe of Benjamin, who reruled for 40 years. 22 then God gave rise to David as king and thus testified of him: ' I have found David, son of Jesse, man according to my heart, who will do in all my will. ' 23As promised, from the offspring of David God brought forth to Israel a savior, who is Jesus. 24Before He arrived, John preached a baptism of conversion for all the people of Israel. 25Being to finish his mission, John declared, ' I am not the one you think I am! Jesus Cristo, a fiel testemunha, / primogênito dos mortos, / nos amou e do pecado nos lavou / em seu sangue derramado (Ap 1,5). – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 13,16-20 – Depois de lavar os pés dos discípulos, Jesus lhes disse: 16“Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, o servo não está acima do seu senhor e o mensageiro não é maior que aquele que o enviou. 17Se sabeis isso e o puserdes em prática, sereis felizes. 18Eu não falo de vós todos. Eu conheço aqueles que escolhi, mas é preciso que se realize o que está na Escritura: ‘Aquele que come o meu pão levantou contra mim o calcanhar’. 19Desde agora vos digo isso, antes de acontecer, a fim de que, quando acontecer, creiais que eu sou. 20Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, quem recebe aquele que eu enviar me recebe a mim; e quem me recebe, recebe aquele que me enviou”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel
